A thing of beauty, but let me be clear. I'm not anoiting Ratliff, I'm not suggesting he be handed the job, I too want to see him earn in it.

And he will, unless the Jets go and get another "big name, big contract" QB like a Kurt Warner who would be handed the job and we have to sit and watch another year go bye waiting for these jackoffs to do things the right way.

There is no quick fix for becoming the franchise we want to be. Sure, there's a chance you bring in a vet and catch lightning in a bottle and get to a Super Bowl...that would be great...almost happened with Vinny, didn't happen with Brett.

But if you want what I want...to be a perennial, to be a Pittsburgh Steeler organization, god help me, to be a NYG organization, THERE IS NO SHORTCUT TO BUILDING A PERENNIAL CONTENDER, A CHAMPIONSHIP ORGANIZATION.

I would rather they take a chance on a young home grown, than an old nearly gone.

I agree I feel like bringing in a vet would be a shortsighted move. Does anyone honestly think we could get to the superbowl anyway with Garcia, Leftwich, Grossman, Losman, etc? I would hope the answer is no and if the answer is no then we could easily just place one of our own guys in there and hope the rest of the team is good enough.

Bringing in a veteran will just put development plans on hold, sooner or later we are going to have to put faith in a younger guy, let him take his hits, and become better for it. Under Rex i think it's the perfect time, I'm sure he wants to use the majority of his draft picks and cap space making HIS defense.

the only devils advocate is a guy like Ratliff may not be ready for a 16 game season yet.

Throwing him out there when they aren't ready ruins them.... Clemens can go out there now, maybe with this line and running game he may be able to be productive... but let's face it, our QB situation is one of the worst in the NFL right now.

It's amazing the love a man can get for completing a long pass to a wide open receiver.

This was a common sight in Cleveland last year, it did not matter who the opposing QB....and if you don't believe it just look at how good the JETS defense made no name QB's look.

I also bvelieve Brett Jr is the answer. Kellen is not even a has been, he is and will ever be a never was.

No old QB should be brought in. Either get Anderson or Carr as a serious contender or stay with Brett.

Anderson or Carr as a Serious Contender??? Contend for what? Clemen's spot on the bench... they are terrible.

Let Clemens and Ratliff fight for the spot. Draft a late round QB (maybe the Rutgers boy) and let the O line and the Defense do their jobs. Baltimore did fine with Flacco. We could do the same with Brett Jr.

The solution is simple....we trade our first rounder for Chad Pennington, a proven veteran and comeback player of the year!
(this won't be the first time, see: Coles-Moss).

I have been on the ratliff bandwagon since preseason too. The only thing that concerns me is that his college career completion % was only 58%. That would have to change here.

What I like is the fact that he brought up the players.
They have some say in the matter too
When fans say give Clemens a chance, are they thinking at all about the players who are also sacrificing a year?
    The players deserve better

I actually heard a interview with Cotchery, a man who i consider our true number 1 receiver say that Clemens is ready to be the guy. It was on the Michael Kay show the day or the day after Favre retired. So the players are getting a opinion and I'm sure it will be heard, i wouldn't say sacrificing a year is the right term to use. Clemens is not awful.
