J-Mac has shown some flashes of being pretty good, and I am not denying that. But most players, if given enough opportunities, can do the same in the NFL. He is far too inconsistent, drops too many passes, and doesn't really have great speed. There is a reason he was a #3 reciever in Tennessee. It's time to give Cotchery his opportunity and see what he does with it.
Whatever. How many picks were thrown because JMAc didn;t even look for the ball? How many drops did this guy have? What did he bring to the table? Nothing. Blame the Qb's all you want. A catchable ball is a catchable ball ,be it thrown by Brooks Bollinger or Brett Favre.
1. No #1 WR. 2. Coles a quality #2 WR with potential to be an average #1. 3. J-Mac Can be a very good #3 WR. In 2004 he had a very good year with very few drops with the exception of the SD playoff game. 4. Dwight Has the speed and moves to be a good slot WR. 4. Cothchery Unproven but he plays tough. Unfortunately he is the Jets 3rd possession WR. 5. Ridgeway. Unknown but releasing Williams eitehr means they like Ridgeway or means Williams is quite bad. The Jets have 3 possession WR's and DWight. They sorely need a gamebreaker WR that can spread the field and make YAC. The Jets WR would all be much betetr with a #1 WR and a complimentry speed WR. The Jets could use one less possession WR.
He also dropped a ton of catchable balls and that has nothing to do with his calf. Tennessee robbed us blind on that pitiful trade we made. He is done as far as I'm concerned, Tennessee wouldn't have got rid of him if they didn't think so too.
No, but like I said in another post...his calf was restricting his ability to create separation thus making catches tougher when the guy is all over you...He will be back next year and I can't wait...
He dropped plenty when he was open. Bottom line..If it hits you in the hands..you catch it. The rest is all B.S.
Of course he dropped some passes...he isn't perfect bud... Were there some he should have caught? Of course, but it wasn't like he was Anthony Becht... He had some issues with his route running due to his leg, he had a poor QB almost all season and he was having a hard time creating separation... Did he have a poor year? perhaps, but I don't think there is any doubt he will be back next year as long as he is healthy...
Ryan Leaf was done wayyyy before he was 26. So was about 1000 players in the NFL. And I don't mean done as far as never playing again. I mean done as far as being a legitimate #2 receiver for any team in this league.
Guess who else was done before 26? Drew Brees... What exactly do you guys expect out of a #2 receiver? I don't expect too much more than 800 receiving yards...
I agree with you. Coles would be a nice #2 for any NFL team. We don't have anything close to a #1 receiver on this team.
Tell me..with the injury excuses. Are you a Herm supporter?..because that's what he blamed the season on.
I thinks its pretty clear we expect him to CATCH the ball. Getting 700 yards when you could have had 900 is not something to applaud.
Herman Edwards, as the Head Coach of our team, should NEVER have squeaked a word about the injuries...its his job to try and keep his team focused on playing...not the injuries they had suffered. As fans we all know that injuries were a huge part of our failures last year. I am not a Herm supporter for a ton of reasons... PS: Don't let this debate possibly think I am mean or dislike you. I am just stating my case.
