Great post, strong idea and one could only hope so. Could you imagine keeping both Holmes and Edwards while signing Aso as a free agent?
Yea, he tweeted though that he really wants to remain a Jet, but that the management doesnt seem to feel the same way. Probably just an Emo moment because he removed it pretty quickly and a little pissed that he said hed take a pay cut and they signed the greedy guy first.
Holmes got a fair deal, IMO. How is it "greedy" to ask for what you're worth? The guy is absolutely clutch, and that can't be denied. I want Braylon back too, but with Holmes signed, we have much more pressing needs other than WR at this point.
Possible that Braylon and his agent reached out to Jets and said they wanted to get a deal done and Tanny said not yet b/c of their pursuit of Aso. Braylon pissed that they don't share his interest in getting a deal done and tweets but realizes that they might still come for him after the Aso situation is definitive...so he deletes the tweet. Pipe dream, I know.
go to the Holmes thread and watch the clip of the Texans game. Bray was huge....even intercepted Shabbs final desperation pass~
James Jones, Braylon Edwards, mike sims-walker, steve breaston, Lance morre, Plax, Mark Clayton, etc.... Its not a motivation problem. The dude is old, 1 dimensional, and washed up. And whe your 1 dimensional, and are no longer elite in that 1 dimension, it comes crashing down rather quickly. And even if he isnt washed up, he lost enough to where putting a safety over the top takes him out of the game completely, as he does nothing else. no harm no foul? If having to scramble to find a quality WR in week 5, Having to get out of an offensive funk, and having to have our QB regain confidence after force feeding deep balls to moss is "no harm" then you are off your rocker. i see no way he can help, and several ways he can hurt. and "learning about your roster" is something you do when you are a rebuilding team of young players coming off a bad year... not something you do after 2 consecutive AFC championship games. The guy couldnt hack it in a near perfect situation with tom brady throwing him the ball... in a season where brady was super human and won MVP. then he couldnt hack it with farve in minnesota. then the titans benched him. the guy cant play anymore. and he has huge potential to be a cancer and set us back. its not as simple as "just cut him if he acts up" there are still serious reprecutions after you cut him
do you have a time machine were we can go get the moss from 2009? if so im in... if not no thanks on the current washed up cancer
Again, the washed up thing seems like BS. Throw out Min/NE and Moss was averaging 50 yards and a TD in every game til he was traded to the titans. Moss was not cut from the pats or the Vikings due to lack of production. The cancer argument might be legit, the 'washed up' argument isn't.
Uhh, he set the single season receiving record with Brady, and he "hacked it" for quite a few years. http://www.pro-football-reference.com/leaders/rec_td_single_season.htm He wasn't there all season or he would have compiled the same numbers he did with brady in previous seasons which were exceptionally good. Again, his numbers were fine in Minnesota except for the game against NE. Moss wasn't cut for lack of production, he was cut for being a douche to some caterers and his teammates. You can argue that he was a "cancer" on this team but you can't really argue that he didn't produce there. He was averaging 50 yards and had 2 TDS in the three games other than the NE game with Min. Yeah Moss shit the bed against NE. That of course was the same game that Favre was knocked out of, so Moss had Tarvaris Jackson throwing to him. Notice that the Viking situation was so bad that the QB, the coach and the backup QB are all gone. Was Moss really the only problem there? Did he give the team "cancer" or was the team fucked regardless of Moss being there? Yup, so he had no chance to perform. So you can't really judge that "he can't play anymore" since he was not playing. Notice that the Titans situation was so bad that the QB, the coach and the backup QB are all gone. Was Moss really the only problem there? Did he give the team "cancer" or was the team fucked regardless of Moss being there? The numbers state otherwise. Maybe, but in reality he didn't act up with the pats until he was in the last year of his contract and realized he wouldn't be resigned. Since he was in a contract year and not getting as many targets as he wanted, he got pissed. Yeah, the Patriots season went right into the shitter after they cut him. Oh wait, it didn't. Bottom line: The guy got cut from the pats and the Vikings for being a dick, not because of his on the field performance. The "He's washed up thing" is nonsense, there is no evidence to back that up. If the Jets can get him cheap, they should.
He was let go because he could no longer do what he used to do.... "production" is misleading... as mentioned, in the jet game when with NE he had a touchdown, but the pats were also 2-10 when targetting him with 2 interceptions. because he was no longer getting open and no longer out jumping guys for passes. the highlight reel is a joke. you could make one similar for any starting WR in football. what the reel doesnt show is the incompletions, the interceptions, the balls batted away, and the balls he was outjumped for. and thats the issue. the '09 moss would outrun and outjump 2-3 players. the 2011 moss would out run 1 guy, once in a blue moon, and do nothing with the other 8-10 throws that came his way. he is washed up. take off your moss pajamas or moss colored glass and see the reality. the guy brings 0 to the table, and has hte potential to cause serious damage.
again, if you have a time machine to bring back the moss of the record season, then by all means, sign me up for that player... but no thanks on the guy who couldnt hack it with 3 different teams last year. you cant use a stat like "averaging 50 yards" and then say stuff like "oh except for that one game" let alone the fact you are using a 3 game sample size.... oh and ignoring that he did that, while being targeted a bit and having the net result of those targets not be so attractive he wasnt playing there because he wasnt good enough right, and moss was so bad, he couldnt hack it on a team with bad players. you keep stating this.... everywhere he goes its "was moss really the problem" it interesting that everywhere he goes, there are problems, isnt it. if he comes here it will be the same thing. which numbers? the career low numbers? the numbers that are low because he was so abd he got benched several games? the numbers where he was targetted a ton but didnt make the most of those guys targets he is washed up. get over it. its about making the jets better, not having your hero on the team if the jets could get him free, they shouldnt, because there are 20+ WR better on the market.
Say what you say, but if we sign Aso, and can no longer afford to sign Edwards... Randy Moss will improve our overall offense.
Go make one for Sims-Walker last year. Show me where he's making catches like he did against Revis and Cro, and where the CB's are of equivalent skill. Then find a TD catch where he beats a double team deep like Moss did against the Bills in the one highlight. Show me the tape, or show it in the statistics. At this point you're making points that can't be validated statistically nor do you have any video to prove it. I'm not even a big fan of Randy Moss, I simply watched enough of Moss last year (2 games vs Jets, the Viking games) to realize he's not washed up he's just a douchebag. Moss's upside is higher than any WR you listed. If the Jets can get him cheap they should. I'd still rather see Braylon come back, but not at #1 WR money. If he was that washed up he would have cleared waivers last year.
I'll take that bet. I can't be happy signing guys with no upside who are potential problems. id hope for the best, but i certainly wouldnt be pleased, not with a dozen better options out there
This is where I'm at. How can anyone argue this? You mean to tell me Holmes/Cotchery/??? would be better or equal to Holmes/Moss/Cotchery? Come on, take off the blinders. We get it, people hate Moss, don't let it affect your football IQ.
