I don't know what it is.. a funny hunch or something.. but something excites me about Patrick Ramsey. He's got a rifle, is pretty intelligent (32 wonderlic), and is probably begging for a change of scenery.

He's not our future though. Cmon man. He's a back up.

well then it's not a good idea to get him because Ramsey wants to be a starter, which he has stated numerous times before.

slating him as a back-up conflicts with his agenda, and that really isn't good for a team, is it?

    cheers

I'd rather get a better guy for no draft pick in free agency. Even if it costs more. Who knows where Chad is with his arm!

At least we'll have the 2 QB's that Coles has the best chemistry with.

Ramsey struggled in a pass first offense under Spurrier, and went to Gibb's doghouse for whatever reason almost immediately. If given a chance in a balanced running offense, he may surprise. He was a first rounder, he was a starter, and he had some success. I love this deal for a 5.

Here is something to think about regarding Ramsey when comparing his 1st
    3yrs.

    Harrington
    Games/TD's/Int's/rating
    46 - 48 - 50 - 67

Harrington has been given the undisputed starting job with a team built around him. Starting receivers Charlie Rodgers, Roy Williams last year with the addition of Mike Williams this year. He also has had a good o-line along with RB Kevin Jones last year. O-by-the-way, he has a record of 14-34 as a starter.

    Boller
    Games/TD's/Int's/Rating
    27 - 20 - 20 - 68

    Carr
    Games/TD's/Int's/Rating
    44 - 34 - 42 - 72

Recievers - Andre Johnson, Jabar Graffney, Cory Bradford

    Palmer
    Games/TD's/Int's/Rating
    13 - 18 - 18 - 77

Receivers - Houshmandzadeh, Chad Johnson, P. Warrick

    Ramsey
    Games/TD's/Int's/Rating
    30 - 33 - 28 - 74

Receivers overs 3 years - Coles (toe), Gardner (50/50), Jacobs, McCants (sometimes), Thrash (castoff from the Eagles), Kevin Lockett, Jacquez Green, Chris Doering and Derrius Thompson,etc.......

Offensive line play in 2002 & 2003 very poor - excluding Jansen & Samuals.

    Coaching over his 3 years??????

I think Gibbs has handled PRam as bad as Spurrier. First thing Gibbs did when he arrived was to sign a 43mm Vet & give up 3 draft choices to Draft Campbell. At the same time he said Brunnell and Ramsey would compete for the starting QB. You tell me if Brunnell earned it in 2004? However, If you still feel like PR is crap - I am sure there are plenty of teams out there that would be more than happy to take a shot with him.

    FYI -
    Troy Aikman (1st 3 years)
    Games/TD's/Int's/Rating/Super Bowl wins
    38 - 31 - 46 - 70 - 3

    John Elway (1st 3 years)
    GamesTD's/Int's/Rating/Super bowl wins
    42 - 47 - 52 - 67 - 2

He is not worth more thatn a fifth round pick. So if others want to bid for his services let them.

A 5th rounder for Ramsey is a trade you have to do. Build a quality offense for him and see if he can play.

I saw something on Fin Heaven that said it was close to being official (think the site was CBS Sportsline.) I doubt it though, Jets will probably want to atleast talk to Kitna and gauge his interest first before they trade for Ramsey.

That would make the most sense. It'd be foolish for TanMan not to weigh all their options first. Besides, it's not like Ramsey is going anywhere. From what I read, it seems the Jets are the only ones showing geniune interest.

Even if Ramsey doesn't pan out to be starter material, at least he'll push Penny for the job. Maybe that'll be enough to get Chad to play with some fire again. Competition can only make those two get better...I hope. Besides, a 5th rounder for Ramsey isn't exactly a king's ransom either. That conditional pick in '07, however...

One thing about the conditional pick. If it ends up costing a 3rd rounder, which is probably the maximum we could give up in the deal, that would mean he came in, started, and played well. Wouldn't a good, young starting QB be worth a 3rd round pick?

That's a very good point. I just hope those 'conditions' aren't too weak (like start 8 games, or whatever).

On a related note, will we ever get to know what the conditions are before they're in effect next offseason?

I got an idea! How about keeping Bolly 2nd string and take Marcus Vick in the 4th or 5th. Let him rot in jail for the first year...Let him ride the pine the second year and hopefully his big brother sets him straight and he becomes a star.

    Just a funny thought.

I'm sure the conditions will be reported in the papers. One of the beat writers will get them from an inside source.
