Enunwa and Kerley don't play the same position. Enunwa was moved to H-Back after Amaro got hurt and after seeing his dropped passes and his solid blocking that somehow was the right move. More Cumberland replacing Enunwa and more Smith instead a H-back/TE before more Kerley.
Enunwa has been pretty awful. This is as relevant as Quigley being suspended for 4 games for smoking crack.
If Kerley Fries doesn't get some significant snaps now they may as well trade him. Might not be a hback but he's another set of hands out there.
I don't think this is that big of a deal. The Jets should just use more 3 and 4 WR sets with Smith and Kerley with Enunwa suspended.
It's no risk with Marshall and Decker both healthy but if one of them goes out do you really want Fitzpatrick throwing passes to a covered Kerley? One of the things about the Jets receivers this year is that all the guys getting a lot of snaps are big enough to fight for a jump ball and survive a crossing collision. I'm not sure that Kerley is really built for that type of action.
NFL suspended Jets WR Quincy Enunwa four games for violating the league's personal-conduct policy. The ban is related to Enunwa's September 2014 arrest on domestic violence charges. Enunwa has been heavily utilized this season, playing 49-of-67 snaps in Sunday's win over the Redskins. He has only eight catches, however. Oh come on. Kerley is versatile as hell. He's never been a game breaker but the guy has great hands and plays surprisingly well against taller corners. One of the things about Jets quarterbacks this year is that they throw passes off target most of the time and let the big rangy receivers save them from disaster. But if you really think that Owusu and Enunwa are better receiving options than Kerley... come on. There was obviously something off the field (locker room?) that affected the Kerley situation.
