Don't hate the jints at all. Rooted hard for them in SB vs Pats. Also a Mets fan, but I HATE, and I mean HATE the yankees.

I think reason is that its an even playing field in NFL w/ salary cap, but all the chokees do is try and buy a title. Glad to see theyve been unsucessful sinced 2000...rooting hard against them this year as well.

I'll agree with you on that. I've met other supposed Giants' fans that are nothing more than bandwagon jumping assholes. I had an older Tiki Barber jersey on a few weeks after the Giants beat the Pats in '07. I ran into someone that I had seen frequently around campus and had not ONCE seen rocking any Giants' apparel of any kind. Suddenly he's wearing an Eli Manning jersey with the SBXLII logo on it. He said something along the lines of "Hey, nice jersey! Is it new?"

I glared at him and said "Hey, nice team you're rooting for. Are they new?" He looked at me funny and I said "I just thought they were new because you never gave a shit about them before."

Whenever any team wins a Super Bowl you have a bunch of douchebags suddenly profess their love for them (see PATRIOTS, NEW ENGLAND) so I definitely see how you could feel that way.

I don't like the Giants. They are the supposed 'bigger deal' football team of NY. Kind of like how a Mets fan hates the Yankees for the same reason.

You, on the other hand, I can't really see the viewpoint of. I get that you hate Eli for some reason I don't understand (unless you are in fact Junior Seau, which would make sense as he has time to cruise message boards) but besides that you don't make any sense.

The Giants came into existence before the Jets. Because of that they were viewed as the #1 team in NYC. This happened well before Namath's historic Super Bowl win. Also, and I'm not sure if you're aware of this, the Giants won a number of championships prior to the first Super Bowl. It's not as though the team gave it's fans nothing to be happy about. I highly doubt that there "considerably less fans" if the Giants' last big win was '69. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying they'd have the decade long streak of consecutive sold-out home games as well as people that have been on waiting lists for literally generations, but it would still be a team with a strong history.

Super Bowl win=bandwagon douchebags. Read my previous post about that.

I get that you don't like Eli's feelings towards San Diego, but are you aware that this was pretty much all Archie Manning's doing? Archie has the misfortune of playing for a bad franchise and didn't want to see his son suffer the same fate/career. Of course Eli had to agree to do this too, but he wasn't the sole driving force behind this.

You are probably also unaware that SAN DIEGO WAS FULLY AWARE THAT ELI DID NOT WANT TO PLAY FOR THEM. They drafted him so they could make the trade they did with the Giants (or whomever else was willing).

And really? Manning is the reason rookie arrogance is out of control? I guess we should blame John Elway too, huh? Or maybe we could do the smart thing and blame the agents, ridiculous rookie contracts, and lack of a rookie salary cap. Or we could blame the "duck-thrower," (which is a totally original insult that I've never heard anyone make up before, you should write for movies) just because you don't like him.

I'm going to save the best part of this ejaculate of stupidity for last? Now, it's been a long day for me and I'm tired, so maybe you could explain HOW THE CHUCKLEFUCK TOM COUGHLIN AND THE GIANTS' ORGANIZATION ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR PLAXICO BURRESS BEING A DUMBASS?!?! Is that one of Coughlin's rules? Be five minutes early for every meeting, and make sure your nine is tucked into your sweatpants? Did he also have a policy on not registering said firearm?

The Giants, like most teams, actually have police come by at the onset of training camp and offer to take any firearms you have for safe-keeping, no questions asked about registration.

Burress was a dumbass and he got arrested for it. He followed this up by being a dumbass and refusing a plea bargain with the DA. in doing so he essentially slapped the DA in the face and told him he thought he could beat him in court. He was wrong. I hope he learns something and I'm glad for all he did for the team, but to suggest anyone besides himself is responsible for his life reeks of a retardation usually reserved for Raiderjoe.

I wanted to not jump on any posts, but this was just too spectacularly stupid to pass up on!

every fan base has their people that range from one extreme to the other. I respect the Giants simply cause I respect good football no matter the location. and the last 5 years theyve come into form as a organization that demands to be noticed.

I'm also not one of those, "I LOVE EVERYONE YAY! NY ALL THE WAY!" kinds of people too, cause theres plenty of Giants fans who think of us as a doormat. and I have no problem being the darkhorse roughhouse alternative to the medias favorite.

at this rate, within a few years itll be evident that NY is home to a perennial top 5 team in their respective conference.

the Giants are already there but we'll see how much staying power they have

and the Jets are promising moving forward but still have much to prove.

although I will say I cheered the Giants on against the Pats as if I've been a fan my whole life. thats moreso respect for the slice of humble pie they were dishing to the pats that day though.

    I respect ANY good team.

that being said I dont go OUT of my way to care or follow the giants more than any other person. I simply enjoy watching good football. just so happens the giants have fielded that over the past few years.

Green and White all the way though. through and through. from the womb to the tomb.

That's respectable. I know what you mean about the arrogance of some Giants' fans. On the Giants' board there was actually so disdain for the "chip on their shoulder" that Jets' fans were accused of having. This, of course, is in response to (perceived) Giants' fan arrogance.

So which came first? Hell if I know, but some of the fans just plain don't like each other.

After the Giants prevented the Patriots from going 19-0, I no longer hate them.
    I hate the Dallas Cowboys.
I don't care much about the Redskins anymore and like most people I do not like Dan Snyder. I did like them in the 1980s when Joe Gibbs was the head coach and JKC was the owner.
I am mad at the Eagles for hiring Michael Vick.
The Giants are actually my favorite NFC East team right now.

thats their problem. i can talk football all day with any level headed fan. come the end of the day, the only one I will actually worry about is the Jets.

the only fans I downright hate from top to bottom are the Raiders. thats like the blind leading the blind.

of course the team i despise the most is the Pats, but at the end of the day I respect the product they put on the field.

Phins was always the funnest rivalry for me cause theres going to be shit talking no matter what because fans in Miami are convinced theyve got the best team no matter the scenario or sport. and Jets have had their number for over a decade so its always fun to entertain them.

    To the OP, great question!

I used to hate the Giants simply because all my friends growing up were Giants fans and I was the only Jets fan. They really gave me a hard time about how much better the Giants were back then (80's to early 90's), so I grew to hate the team and hope they did poorly. Since we all grew up, and I stopped hanging out with those guys, I grew pretty apathetic about the Giants. Like other people said, I would root for them if they played an AFC team. But otherwise, not really pay attention. Of course, that all changed in the Super Bowl against the pats. Needless to say, I was the biggest Giants fan around that day. Since they humiliated beli-shit and the pats (who I truly despise much more than I ever hated the Giants), I've come to respect the team and hope they do well, though I usually won't watch one of their games if it doesn't directly impact the Jets.

    Thanks again for asking!

I hate Cowboys fans. These fuckers were all over New Jersey in the 1990s. Then they went bye-bye from about 2000 to 2006. It was 2007 when they started to come out of the woodwork again.

lol so pretty much relative to the Franchise's success during those era's?

yeah those are classic symptoms of bandwaggon fans.

one of my best friends is a cowboys fan but hes as neutral and nonbias as it comes when it comes to football analysis, but I will admit. that makes him an extreme exception to the thick of their fanbase.

so i can see where your coming from.

I used to not really like them at all, then I started to like them after the 2004 draft (big Reggie Torbor fan in that draft, same with Chris Snee, Jaamar Taylor, and Gibril Wilson. Basically my favorite draft ever). Then in the Super Bowl against the Patriots, I felt like I was a true Giants fan, the way I cheered for them. It was as if I was watching the Jets. It wasn't even anti-Patriots crap. Between Osi and everything, they just had a lot of guys I liked. So basically, I can respect them and root for them when they're not playing the Jets, obviously. I won't ever buy any of their merchandise or consider myself a Giants fan or anything like that, but I like them. I'll watch their game if it's not the rare case like last Sunday when they're on at the same time. Sometimes, if there is a better game on, I'll watch that over the Giants, though.

Also, I posted on a Giants board as a Jets fan for two+ years until I found TGG. And still post on a board that spun off from the Giants.com MB.

It's interesting to me. I have a close friend who roots for the Dolphins. He's a perfectly reasonable and intelligent person, save for when it comes to football. He seems to always find some element of the team to place so great an amount of hope in it can only be called bizarre. Right now he believes Sporano is so brilliant that he can wildcat his way out of not having a QB. Before he believed that Culpepper was going to get healthy at any moment and turn things around.

I have a friend that roots for the Redskins and he is a more interesting case. He's quite intelligent and is one of the smartest people you could hope to meet...until it comes to football. All summer I've heard how Orakpo is dominating in training camp (my retort was "of course, he's going against the Redskins' OL") and how great Devin Thomas and Malcolm Kelly will be, and (brace yourself) how Zorn is an offensive genius that will turn the team around.

It's odd, for both these guys they are perfectly normal people until you talk about their favorite teams.

Was that board Big Blue Interactive? That's where I go. The format is plain and can suck at times, but the posters are pretty good.

hate the Giants, hate the media love affair with them, hate the fact they are the "establishment," hate their new fans (and many of the old ones), and hate the fact I have to look at their fking logo everytime I walk into the stadium.

I've always despised the Giants deep down inside but never let my friends who are Giants fans see it, I pretty much root for any team thats playing them unless its an AFC team. 2007 was probably the year I had the most hatred towards the Giants because they were being talked about so much during the playoffs and i wanted to blast my head off. When they beat Green Bay in the NFC championship game I found myself wanting to break stuff I was so mad. The 2007 superbowl was and will always be the worst time i ever had watching a super bowl. Saying that I have actually come around to trying not care about what they do so much just because i was so angry i let it get to me. So now i find myself actually enjoying when both the jets and giants win, it makes this town a little better to live as the atmosphere is great when they both win.
