He might become a FA; in March the 49ers have the option to extend Smith another year (while paying $7.5 million bonus) or letting him become a Free Agent.

Alex Smith.. LOL At that rate, I'd take McElroy.

Leftwich, Moore, Grossman, and Anderson I guess.

I don't think people realize when Alex SMith comes, it's just Alex Smith, it's not Harbaugh, Davis, and Gore coming along with Smith.

I'd rather stick with McElroy to be honest, let him be a placeholder for a year, if he sucks then we can at least get a QB in the 1st round in '14. If he plays above expectations then we may have our QB. But if the Jets had to bring in a vet, I'd go with Mike Vick as my top choice, followed by Alex Smith, Matt Moore, Tarvaris Jackson, or Vince Young yes Vince Young to see if he can be salvagable.

But with the WR FA char looking so good this year we could give him weapons. Re-sign what we need then sign threats.

I like Young as well or Moore, not so much Smith or Vick.

We don't have big money this offseason, we also don't have the depth to throw a ton of money at one position. We could get the QBs listed for decently cheap and as a placeholder until we can find a QB in the draft

Really ?? young ? that's like a Minnie vick. Moore is the better way to go.

I don't see why no one wants Smith

Alex Smith? He struggled for so many years until Harbaugh came there. He also had Davis, Gore, a great OL and amazing defense as benched this year

But that's why im saying lets take advantage of the WR FA's and give him something to work with the O-line sinks at RT so if we could draft a solid RT or sign one we could atleast be ok there. as for TE its a one way or the other type thing sign vet. min or draft a 2-5 rounder talent for him

The 49'ers don't want him either. :) He's an ok QB, but as a FA he's gonna want money we don't have to spend. I don't think he's worth what he's going to want.

Why not? He could be a decent placeholder if we can't grab a QB cheap in FA.

Well we also need a G in the draft with Moore probably gone. who know if Vlad can hold up at LG if he replaces Slauson. That leaves RG and RT that needs help. On top of that our LB core is probably gone with Pace and Scott being cut if I remember our cap correctly. We just don't have the resources to throw big money at WRs with already all the money tied up in Holmes and trading up to get Hill last year. That would be like resigning a QB, signing one, then trading for one in 1 offseason (something we did)

Would be a fan of Matt Moore as a placeholder. He's shown he can be an average QB in this league. With our defense, that would at least keep us competitive and in the playoff hunt next yr.
