i think Aaron Brooks would be a solid pick up too. but if we officially land Rex, i think we can make a push for Akili Smith and that would count as two major jets offseason victories.
Boller is a failure. he's had numerous chances to become a serviceable NFL QB...and failed everytime.....I don't want that guy anywhere near the Jets.
I think Akili Smith is available too....since the Calgary Stampeders cut his ass midseason in the CFL last year.....Tanny GET ON THIS!!
Boller is underrated. He wasn't a complete failure and he does have some potential. People for some reason think he was a bust like Akili Smith or Ryan Leaf. Not even close. He'll come cheaply and he can be a backup if we actually get someone better, which is unlikely.
Another underrated part of playing football is kneeling at the 50 yard line in shorts and throwing the ball into the endzone. Boller excels at that and would add a whole new wrinkle to our offense when we're trying to take a knee teams will also have to respect the deep threat.
Boller isn't a bad QB, but I'd much rather look for a good QB than settle for a decent one. Kellen and Ratliff are younger and have potential, Boller does too, but he's been injury-prone and inconsistent. I wouldn't completely object to bringing him in, but I don't think he's better than what we have and developing him would be a project that might not turn out so well.
KYLE BOLLER? If Rex Ryan brought his name up in their discussions before he was hired as head coach, and they still want to hire this guy? Then the years that The Mangenius will be viewed as some kind of "Golden Age." No way. Kyle Boller?
only one that would excite me would be Garcia, if he was available. We do need a veteran for insurence, though.
I wouldn't be totally opposed to letting a guy like Boller come in and compete for the job, though I don't think he's the answer. He's a Tedford player, they all made awful pros. Here's a list of QBs he produced: Trent Dilfer, Akili Smith, Joey Harrington, Kyle Boller, and Aaron Rodgers. The only one of them that's proven to be serviceable is Aaron Rodgers. I wouldn't mind if we could land Sanchez in the draft. I'm not totally sold on him, but I do like the fact that USC plays a pro style offense. With Bradford returning to OU, it really would be between Stafford and Sanchez, but no way does Stafford fall that far. As much as everyone hates Favre, I'd rather have Favre then Clemens of '07. He looked so lost. I actually felt bad for him.
