Pennington has a rag arm, Clemens has a "live" arm. I don't agree with your statement that he doesn't throw harder. That's absurd. Agree to disagree.
Dilfer and B. Johnson has what Pennington needs to win the Sb. Two of the Greatest defenses to ever step on a Football field. Rothelsberger had a Veteran team that got hot at the right time and all he had to do was not screw something up. We do not have these luxuries with the 2007 Ny Jets. Chad should not even be mentioned in the same sentence with Brady or Manning. You Put Marino or Kelly on some of the teams that Chad has had behind him and we go to the Sb one of those years. Marino played 20 years without a RB and he gave the Dolphins a fighting chance every time he stepped on the field. Chad has been and always will be mediocre. In an Afc with Brady, Manning and The whole Chargers team Mediocre will not Cut it unless he has a defense like the ones the Ravens have. We want a superbowl not a 10-6 record. Chad can not do that with this Jets team so it is time to go in another direction.
Yeah yeah, we all know you hate Chad. And you keep forgetting we beat the Chargers in the playoffs in San Diego with Chad at QB. Chad is the starter until further notice.
I remember the team we beat in the Playoffs in San Diego. I believe that was the last time Chad threw a decent long ball in a game to Santana Moss if Im not mistaken. If you think our team is on the level with theirs today then I will not even begin to argue with you. If your happy with what you see from Chad so far then he is your guy. Chad is the starter until further notice. That notice should come around 10-14-07.
A couple of arguments can be made. 1) Chad studies his plays and film as much as anyone else out there. In the meantime, he learns from his mistakes and has the smarts and leadership to have us win games. As of right now, we have to remain in Chad's corner. 2) Kellen Clemes is the heir to the New York Jets QB position. He's a hard nosed, country boy who made a quantum leap in overall performance from last year. I read an article stating that he went home only for a holiday before returning to the New York area to work on his off-season training. He won't be tempted by the NY lifestyle, has a solid work ethic, great arm, and has picked up a difficult offense to learn, to become not only a reliable back-up, but an insurance policy as a starter this year if shit hits the fan. But as JETS fans, Mangini has put his faith into Chad for the time being, and anything we write about or yell in the stadium isn't going to change that. So it's a waste of energy to go elsewhere from Chad's corner. Now if he has a chance to look at his recievers before seeing the opposing D in his face, we may not be so bad.
So far in his career or the handful of throws in the pre-season? Saturday night he was pretty much on target, even his incompletions were on the money, one was a drop, one he threw into the ground on purpose at his own goal line. And of course one was a 79-yard TD, which everyone conveniently leaves out of the conversation.
Chad supporters come up with the most insane reasons to support him. After awile it will drive the Jet Fans who actually want to see a Super Bowl Insane!
good throw but leon was practically uncovered and leon is amazing after the catch. dumping it 15 yards downfield , that was great timing. but lets not forget all the bad throws for one throw he shouldve made and did. im not calling for chads head now. but if by midseason its the same game as last yr then its time to move on. we know what we have in pennington.
you know i missed that 80 yard Leon pass play and i had thought it was a dump off, but when i saw it last night, it was actually a deep 20-30 yard pass. Sure it had wobble, but it had the velocity to get there and Leon didnt slow down. I think with TJ in the game Penny will get the job done.
It was a 20 Yard Pass on a blown Coverage on the first play of the game. Leon did the work on that one. If you want reference two good passes in that game please reference the 50 yard pass in the air on a strike from Clemens to McCareins or the Pass to Brad Smith.
All the bad throws? You mean the two from the previous week? The TD wasn't a dump, either, it was down the field in the perfect spot. That's what a smart QB does, finds a flaw on the first play and exploits it to put his team ahead.
Clemens made nice throws. He also had protection and the Jets had established the run on the drive before. Not to take away from his two nice throws, but he also underthrew a TD and it was picked. If Chad had done that you guys would have crashed this board and you know it. The first five threads would have been from you.
whatever talk all you want, all im asking is the "smart qb" has a decent TD to INT ratio. cuz that is what smart qb's SHOULD do. im not calling him a bum but if like i said he looks like he did last yr. its time for him to hit the bricks or pick up a clipboard
Last year he was Comeback Player of the Year and we made the playoffs. You guys act like it was some kind of 4-12 disaster--that's what happened when Chad wasn't in there.
It was a great throw and Chad even double pumped to freeze the coverage. Mangini will pull the plug on Chad just like Herm pulled it on Vinny if and when he can't get it done. Either we are totally playing possum with NE or Mangini is thinking about it. Hard to tell since he did get a Cameo in the Soprano's.
the team was riddled with other injuries on OL, also Eric Barton wasnt there so lets say the team went 4-12 without Kevin Mawae and Eric Barton. we made the playoffs cause of the great play by Coles and Cotchery. anyone who thinks Pennington is a better QB than those two are WR's is on ludes. alsi I remember Leon Washington eeking out over 4 YPC behind a line that cant open up holes. just about all of our key plays last year were players doing great things AFTER THE CATCH.
