NO, NO, NO, a hundred times no. Last year our 29th pick was Mangold. He was by far our best pick in the draft. We go through this every year. Trading up is a huge risk, you pay a ton of money for an unproven product. Your chances are better in having more picks in the top 100 than having 'the' top pick and you don't risk destroying your cap and getting poor value for your money. We need to stay put.
uh, hell yes. the possibilities are endless though....who do you make that trade with though?....maybe it depends where you fall in that 5....
not to get into the top 5, but to move up to 19-20? senseless....sorry, but thats just bad math, and even worse draft day math.
what if were in slot 2-4....and brady quinn is on the board? would you guys want BQ? clemens "is the future" but BQ could be "the franchise".... just a thought.
trading our picks would not get us far enough so there just isn't any point in going up a little. 3 first-2nd round picks is way better than just having like a 15th pick. i dont even think anyone would do the trade.
i would do this so we can land A. Peterson thats about it. after the D rob situation ill pass on trading up to draft a DT
I don't favor trading the picks, and I also believe in the scouting department doing their job, but you get caught up in these rankings when they tell you there's only one blue-chip DT in the entire draft. I know it's BS, but it does make you crazy thinking you're going to get another Pouha or worse at DT. The answer at DT is a combination of a find in the draft and a stop-gap veteran to rotate in.
