disclaimer: I haven't watched the Giants this year. I've seen 2 highlight reals of OBJ's catches. One last week, one last year. OBJ is not a large person. He's build more like Devin Smith, so I would assume his catches are either one handed circus catches (see ESPN) or he's fast and can get YAC if he catches the ball in space. G-men lost 6 games this season with OBJ doing his thing, so he can't be Megatron dominant type WR, so he is (very) beatable. I would take a 6-5" Megatron or a 6-4" Brandon Marshall with great hands over OBJ any day, especially in the redzone or middle of the field. We'll see!
the hype over these one handed catches are gay. The gloves these players use these days are like glue. I'm not all that impressed by people throwing their hand out and the ball sticking to it. especially when they'll have just as many drops as any other receiver. more impressed with players running through people, or tip toeing the sideline for a nice catch, or running a perfect route and blowing by defenders. actual athleticism/perfectionism.
What we should do, double team him every play. What we will do, put Cro on him one on one for half the game. What will happen, Cro gets burned bad for two or three TD's. Devante Parker burned Cro for his first TD ever last week, Cecil Shorts and Andre Holmes made Cro look like a fool. He's like the 98th ranked corner out of a 100. We're fucked.
So far I have not read one line of endorsment from Bowles regarding Milliner. I can not for the life of me figure out what got him in the dog house. It's not the injury, that would not make sense. When healthy he has always played hard so you got to wonder what is going on there. We most certainly could use him in a supporting role as a minimum. No Revis and no Williams, Cro and Walls out there with Buster backing up is not strong enough a secondary to stop the damned Giants.
Yep. Though Smiths going up outstretched, thumbs together TD grab was sweeeeet... OTOH, Someone needs to tell Decker that's how footballs are caught.
The biggest thing about him though is , when able to , the Giants will feed him the ball more than any other WR in the league. I dont want to say he's all they have on offense but if ever went down I think they would turn into one of the worst offenses in the league. Zero run game , zero other WR's and zero TE. It's bad. So we really should be able to contain that offense if he gets doubled teamed. Id even triple team him honestly. No one else in that offense is scary.
This is why we payed Buster the big bucks, to hold down the nickle package and spot start on the outside. Close the Skrine door on Odell and the Giants.
bruh... I used to try to downplay him to just a big highlight catch or something, but that's just ignorant. he's really a stud. I don't like em but I must give credit where it's due
come on people lets get real. Dee isn't playing. Bowles doesn't even seem impressed by him honestly and never has. (same with jace amaro but that's another story). Most logical thing to do is play next man up. move cro to the 1 and skrine to the outside. Dex in the nickel, walls Dime. can't just throw walls on Odell that's hell. Pryor may have to play back with Gilly this game. or at least help look like he's giving double coverage
Bowles and the DC better not blow this game for us Two talking heads on NFL network were trashing the Jets vs Giants saying NYG has best chance at making playoffs Then they did the public opinion poll and it was like 80% of country says WE have better chance than Giants
You really are oblivious most of the time. He has been Calvin Johnson dominant but that doesn't always translate to wins which is evident by hmm Calvin Johnson's whole career. He's good at just about everything and he's a dominant player in this league. Why discredit him when you admit you've never really watched?
Dee Milliner theory: He hasn't played much in part because he came back from multiple injuries and he really wasn't needed. Guys in front of him had been here all season and doing pretty good. Bring on the Giants: Milliner had success in college playing OBJ. One of the few DBs that did, and one of the reasons he was regarded so highly in the draft. That isn't lost on Bowles, an NFL DB himself. Here Bowles is, facing OBJ at his height, with his #1 DB (and possibly his #2 DB in Williams) watching the game from home. Knowing this game was on the schedule at a crucial time don't be surprised if Bowles pulls his 'secret weapon' out for this game. I wouldn't be shocked if Bowles puts Milliner on OBJ and goes from there. Milliner's the only DB on the roster (and perhaps the entire NFL) with a (recent) history of shutting OBJ down. Wait for it.....!
