Westhoff can coach for a year if there is no REAL coach out there that wants to head this team.

I say give him a shot... players all love him

    Westhoff

Is there any chance that he would want to be a head coach? I know hes health isnt that great but he really knows how to fire players up and hes a special teams mastermind. I know theres a difference between knowing special teams and offense and defense but I'm sure he knows the game. Maybe he can be a head coach.

In my opinion we need to get Cowher but if Tanny announced Westhoff as the Head Coach I would be well satisfied

Good god he would be an awful choice!

Special teams with the exception of Leon (who is a special talent) has been mediocre at best. What has Westhoff shown this year that gives you any inclination he is going to be a good HC? Was it the proclivity of other teams to fake punt on the Jets? The crappy field position that cost at least 2 games ( NE and Oak) .................

I said this in another thread and rather then type something similar here is the cut and paste:

Any thread wanting Westhoff as HC is ridiculous and borderline retarded. Special teams have been crap this year. ST has been really disappointing and has cost the Jets games. (New England and Oakland come to mind). Not too mention the blocked kicks, the fake punts by the opposition, poor field position etc etc..

If Mangini, Sutton and Schott get no quarter, than fair is fair and Westhoff should get treated similarly. His coaching this year was putrid, plain and simple.

One other thing that bothers me about him as well:

It has been how long since the Jets have had a good punter?

He should have gotten the job three years ago. He interviewed for it and should have been given a chance. We can do a lot worse than robo-Westhoff.

He'd be a crazy old dude as a HC. It'd fit the Jets.

If that were written into his contract, I'd be on board too. That'd be hilarious and totally worth watching the Jets go 0-16 for.
