Absolutely nothing to gain from risking injury to Hack. McCown is obviously our starter because Bowles is a shit tier coach. Can't continue to risk our back-up. He's got nothing to prove this game. Gotta put someone out there and since the staff doesn't give a crap about Petty, there's no better option.
Let it play out. Cap't McCopter gets plastered into the turf next week and maybe Petty starts the year.
Nothing says "MAKE ME A STARTER!" like committing facemasks on special teams in the 4th quarter of a pre-season game.
That's how I see it. I think Hack needs to learn hence the reps today. When push comes to shove Petty is better than Hack right now and will be given the rock when it counts.
I'd like to see Hack and Petty split time in the next 3 pre-season games in a true competition. We know already know what Mccown brings (or doesn't bring) to the table. Let Hack or Petty actually win the job on the field.
