The great thing about the last 6 years of free agency is that none of us should expect the Jets to do anything impactful during the period. If we do that's great, and if we don't, well that probably just shortens the period of time we'll need to watch the current fumblers before the next set of fumblers comes in.

It's kind of a win-win. Incompetent management boots itself out of town everywhere in the world except for Detroit.

i think tangini knows thier heads will roll if they don't go to the playoffs this year. with this being said, i think we are going to revamp our lines, on both sides of the ball. i think we are gonna be major players in FA.

I think we need an over/under on the first why havent we signed anyone yet. I'm saying by noon tomorrow we will have one, at least.

This is really the best time for the board and worst. Best for the comedic value and worst because eventually that gets old quickly and it becomes really annoying..

Fellas, there is only one team in one sport that fans lovingly refer to as, "Same Old."
There's no "Same Old Clipper, Same Old Bills, Same Old Indians, Same Old Cubs even, etc."
Would anyone on this board REALLY be surprised if the Jets managed every single one of these predictions? You might as well throw a Coles holdout 'til October scenario in there too. Watch us land McFadden too and he turns out to be Blair Thomas, or Vernon Gholston who ends up Bryan Thomas, or...
Sick to your stomach over these possibilities? Then you haven't watched this franchise since before Bill Parcells arrived.
Being a Jets fan means you always hope for the best, prepare for the least, and expect the worst.

And won't everyone be surprised when we emerge as SB contenders!

We fix our O-line to the point where we have a terrific running attack and Clemens finds himself, gains confidence by Game Two and sets us on a winning streak! Stuckey returns healthy and, behind the rebuilt O-line, combines with Coles and Cotchery to decimate opposing DEFs. Leon, Baker and Jones cut the opposition to ribbons when the opposing DEF takes the bait on whomever the WR we draft in the 3rd Round turns out to be a bigger deep threat than Randy Moss!

We get the right combination in place for a pass rush and become a formidable pass defense while actually stopping the run with guys like Harris taking the lead and our new NT creating havoc within the opposing pocket. Rhodes becomes a pick-off superstar along with Revis, opposite some other elite CB yet to be determined, and our DEF is second to none.

We go 13-3, ride the playoffs all the way and wind up in the Superbowl!

    To be continued...

So what's the over/under on when the first "Why haven't we signed anybody yet?" topic is?

    I'll say about 11:00

honestly i wouldnt be surprised to see the first why havent we signed anybody thread by noon. I mean they had 12 hours! why havent we signed everyone including Jerry Rice and Vince Lombardi 12 hours into Free Agency? The first sky is falling thread will occur right after the first guy we are expected to sign goes elsewhere. This is even if we do this first, Sign Faneca, Sign Asante Samuel to a 45 million dollar deal (not one hundred), sign Randy Moss, Jacob Bell, Damien Woody, but when Calvin Pace signs in Miami, the sky will start to fall i can feel it coming allready. Not saying we make a single one of the moves listed above, but its just me making a point.

Also is anyone surprised we have been linked to EVERYONE so far this offseason? This coming from our overly tightlipped Front Office, has me thinking 95% of these moves are straight up smoke screens... as for which ones are real? I'm betting against faneca and Rodgers, thinking more that Damien Woody, and Jacob Bell are the gaurds we are looking at, while the DT of choice would be Marcus Stroud not rodgers. Wouldnt be surprised to see us NOT make any trade of our own guys in the first week of the signing period...

Off topic, but I wonder how much it would cost the Jets if they were interested in Fitzgerald...

Regarding the thread title, you forgot the renting of clothes and wearing of sackcloth and ashes.

Oh come on! Win lose or draw -- this is the shits!

I'm atella you -- this is fun. Hell, they're not even playing -- it's 9:47PM -- and I'm sitting here typing fast about the NYJ!

If there were no action, then I wouldn't.

It's great to have something to do that isn't trying to be basketball or baseball or hockey or socker or tennis or any of those other ...."sports".

I bet we sign Travis LaBoy to a 5 year 26.5 million dollar contract with a 6.5 million dollar signing bonus, no, make that a 7 million dollar signing bonus.

The Jets will spin him as a tweener who can play ROLB and replace Victor Hobson in the 3-4. They'll say he has great potential as a pass rushing linebacker in a 3-4 defense and was just playing a bit out of position as a DE in Tennessee.

That's the kind of signing we always get as a sop when the good guys are all gone.
