I find it very hard to believe that the cap will be less than 140 (although that's right about the number I expect). Sure, it is too early to predict what the cap will look like with any reliability, but experts are generally predicting an eventual cap between 135 and 150.

I agree Jenkins' best value is as a rotational player and to conserve him as best as we can. But if he's back, you know he will start.. he'll just come out after that and play sparingly.

If he's back, him and Pouha will both start just like they were last year. The starting D-line was Pouha at end, Jenkins, and Ellis. This year it could be Pouha, Jenkins, and DeVito. Good luck running against that line. And then Pouha and DeVito will play most of the game, while Jenkins rotates, and guys like Pitoitua, Gilbert, Dixon, Tevesau, etc get time as well. If one or two of those guys really step up like DeVito did, our d-line will be fine.

2nd best offseason ever to when I convinced the Browns to take Gholston for a 3rd in Madden.

With a lockout and replacement players, I think some of us will be out there. I'm 44 but still pretty quick, I could play in the slot.

    Kevin O'Connell?

I agree with most of your guesses.. I'd only change a few:

WR- Holmes, Cotchery, FA like Ochocinco who will be cheaper than Braylon, Patrick Turner

    DE- Pouha, Pitoitua
    DT- Jenkins, Tevesau
    DE- DeVito, Dixon or Gilbert

    CB- Revis, Cromartie, Wilson, Cole

    FS- Pool
    SS- Leonhard

We'd never allow a first down with that defense.

I think the OP's post is generally on the money. In recent years there's been a fair amount of change from year to year on the roster. Compared to opening day in 09 you had Edwards, LT, Slauson, DeVito, Cromartie and Pool were all new, and Holmes was already under contract, merely waiting to have his four game play out. That's seven new starters.

I think this year will be different, and we will see somewhere south of seven new starters.

That also means given the current contract and related states of the players that the FO will be busy signing up current FA's. But I see that happening for the most part. As someone noted the Jets seem willing to go top heavy with overall salaries apportioned to the starters. Absent some whopping off season trade, that means the following positions imo are in play:

FB. I would not be totally surprised to see Richardson back, but this is one of the postions more likely than others to move to the young guy, Connor.

RT. People seem to assume Woody is gone. His injury undercut his status. Hunter played well, but... The Jet FO has been burned in the past letting a position get filled in a camp contest between unproven bench performers, which is certainly Ducasse. Hunter is somewhat more proven. Enough to see the Jet FO let Woody go? Perhaps, but I would not be surprised to see him back, either.

I think all other starters on O are back.

NT. Jenkins? The Jets will not tell him he's not coming back, but odds are against him. The FO will likely use a draft pick on the DL, and this could be a position in play. More likely is the starters on DL remain as they were after Jenkins went down, with the newbie coming in for depth and development.

OLB. Thomas will likely be the defensive vet who gets cashiered. He's just not that good compared to his contract. OLB is where youth will be served. Pace could have been gone too but for his contract situation (or so I understand it).

FS. Some here seem to like Pool. I thought he was far and away the weakest starter in the secondary. I think he's gone. Don't know whether E Smith, Lowery or someone new gets it, but odds are Pool will not be back.

    Otherwise, it's status quo ante.

Am I the only one that would be more surprised to see Edwards gone than Holmes? Cromartie seems to be set on the idea that he'll be back, Harris is getting tagged, and hopefully Tanny works his magic to get us a difference maker on defense.

No? Too bad, 1987 was a blast. :)

I wonder if I catch a TD would I still have to pay $25 for parking?

Which experts are predicting that? I'd be really interested in something like that. I see a lot fans on boards predicting numbers but haven't seen anything from "experts".

The percentage of revenue that goes to players (essentially, the cap minimums and maximums) is the number one issue bar none in the CBA negotiations, and the owners are trying to drive that number down. No credible person that I can think of has actually ventured an estimate.

You can't keep everybody and the market for CBs is inflated. I think Cro will get a big money offer from somebody.

not being critical. just stating that maybe cro shouldmoveup the priority list.

if d.h. gets the tag,i think it has to be a combo of holmes/edwards and cro that need to be resigned.

    QB: Sanchez, Ainge
We might bring in someone else with experience if Clemens and Brunell go their separate ways

    RB: Greene, McKnight, LT
Greene and McKnight will be the starters with LT spelling. wouldn't mind seeing the Jets bring in Kevin Smith, Derrick Ward, or Brian Leonard for depth reasons but it would have to be for the right price due to the money going else where. Leonard is a Rutgers Alum and is from the area he is also great out of the backfield so him and LT on third downs could be a dangerous combo on third. (3rd down - FB: Leonard RB: LT)

    FB: Connor
The era of the Terminator begins

OL: D'Brick, Slauson, Mangold, Moore, Hunter .... Ducasse and Turner as depth
Sorry Woody but this is a business

    WR: Holmes, Edwards, Cotch, Smith
I think Holmes and Edwards stay for reasonable prices bc there are other guys like ochocinco who would be willing to come play for a winner for reasonable pay. The fact the Fitz and Ocho are contemplating abandoning ship to play for better teams will give Tanny all the leverage he needs to set his price. Smith will get paid the money he deserves bc he is valuable to us as WR/Wildcat/KR ... we lose to much if we lose him

    TE: Keller, Cumberland
Going to be a great pass catching duo

    DEFENSE

DE: C. Jenkins, Ellis, Pitoitua, Devito, Rookie
We bring in little jenkins, Ellis stays bc he wants to win a SB before he retires plus he has a little loyalty due to the fact that he knows nothing but Green and White. Also bring in a rookie to start grooming

    DT: K. Jenkins, Pouha
Pouha is the starter and Jenkins I believe will come back and restructure his deal to enable his little brother to come to town.

    OLB: Pace, Thomas, Rookie, Westerman
Pace and Thomas are our starters with Houston/Shepeard coming in on passing situations. Westerman will see some additional playing time as well.

    ILB: Harris, Scott
Our Inside will be locked up and set for years to come

    CB: Revis, Asomougha, Wilson, Coleman
Asomougha comes here bc he wants to win and we would rather pay him (who just won a communtiy service award for all the stuff he did for oakland this year) instead of Cro who is going to want more than he's worth.

If we can't get Aso, Jonathan joseph from Cincy may be a name to watch he may come more affordable then Cro.

    SS: Zbikowski, Leonhard, Smith

    FS: Lowery, Poole
Safties: I feel that with all the money that will be spent elsewhere no big name will be brought in. The draft is not looking to promising either but Rex drafted Zbikowski and Balt already has to resign Landry along with the rest of its secondary so I see him deflecting for a reasonable cost. But I think these two positions will be for ever changing as the season goes on and you will see a lot more packages instead of two every down starters

    SPECIAL TEAMS

    P: Weatherford
Did a good job this year deserves to come back

    K: Prater
reliable kicker with a good leg, after the nail biting year with folk Tanny will open the wallet to bring him in

    KR: Smith

    PR: Zbikowski
i remember watching him at Norte Dame returning Punts, Crazy MF, Westoff is going to enjoy having him.
