Seriously? Joe McKnight has more god given talent that 95% of guys atb his position in the NFL. So what is his issue? Is it desire? Is he not a student of the game? Has he not had ample chances? The reason why Joe McKnight is considered a disapointment is becasue he has all the ability in the world to be our McCoy, CJ, Reggie, Sproles... And he shows that "wiggel" and vision as a KR; maybe he does need the oppertunity in as a RB. Hasent he had the oppertunities in TC and Pre-season to improve is pass pro and ball security?
Joe mick is a little banged up.But he brings speed, hands and kick off's.So maybe they are trying to give him some rest for later in the season.
Excellent. Powell is a better pass blocker & McKnight is more apt to fumble and both of those reasons make me happy he's getting the nod over McKnight. Lots of posters here bring up the constant 3 and outs last season. However, there were too many drives we wish could've been 3 and outs. This offense is not gonna carry the team because the talent isn't much different than last season. Doesn't matter if it's McKnight or Powell. The Jets brought in Sparano not Bill Walsch. What this offense needs to do is MINIMIZE TURNOVERS and get enough enough first downs for the D to rest up. Less likely to cough up the ball running & more likely to protect Sanchez from crazed blitzers on passing downs (and forcing even more Jet turnovers).
while you are labeling the guy, why not truthfully mention that he was one of the best KR men last year and did not fumble! Just saying.....!
McKnight was never the RB2, so he was never demoted. He was promoted to first string KR last year tho.. The better RB won the RB2 job this year.
McKnight had 3 fumbles last year, one on KR and 2 on PR. Everyone does great returning kicks under Westhoff.
Greene and Powell will be a nice 1 2 punch at RB. McKnight was very good in the return game aside from a few errors, so why not keep him there. He's fast, he just hasn't seemed to really grasp the new system as far as RB goes. He'll probably be a late bloomer this year.
Ughh do you remember his fumble in the Denver game. That fumble. That final drive. That pick 6. Horrible game in so many ways.
I'm not really surprised, he's more of a prototypical RB that can handle inside and outside running, and frankly, he looked better at exploiting gaps than Greene to me.
Doing fine? Are you serious? You are never doing fine when you lose your job even if it is as a backup. I will be surprised if he is here next year as they even brought in somebody who may replace him on kick returns.
I don't think beating out McKnight is a great accomplishment. I hope Tebow can be a good running back for the Jets. Either way, hold onto the damn ball.
i was at that game. great place to see a game, but terrible outcome. everyone seems to remember Eric Smith losing contain, but the pick 6 and PR fumble were the biggest turning points of the game. i still can't believe they blew that.
You seriously thought I was only referring to LT's rushing yards? LT's total yards last year, in only 14 games btw, were 729. Well, I would be quite happy if Powell got more than that, especially if McKnight still contributes as much as he did last year (meaning will Powell take away plays from McKnight or not?).
