Browns hired their guy leaving just the NYJ. Jason La Canfora @JasonLaCanfora Browns have hired Michael Lombardi to run their personnel department. Interviewed for position earlier this week. Will be announced totday Jason La Canfora @JasonLaCanfora That leaves the Jets as the team yet to find someone to run their personnel department, though they have been in talks with John Idzik (SEA)
Not quite GM: Browns hired NFL Network's Michael Lombardi as VP of player personnel. Lombardi wasn't given the GM title, which leaves open the possibility that Chiefs director of pro personnel Ray Farmer could still be in the mix to rejoin president Joe Banner and Lombardi in the front office. This will be Lombardi's second stint at the head of player personnel, as he also ran the department in the early 1990s before and during the Bill Belichick regime. Lombardi has been out of the league since a 10-year run with the Raiders ended in 2007.
I agree with all of this. Harris is overrated by Jets fans. He's slow laterally, he is a liability in pass coverage and he gets picked on a lot by opposing QBs. He's good at stuffing holes if the run is coming right at him, but that's it. He's an old fashioned MLB, cut in the mold of a Marvin Jones or a Pepper Johnson type. He would have been fine if he played in that era, but now offenses are more spread out, making it tougher for guys like him. Also now a days with these hybrid WR/TE types, guys like Harris will always struggle with them. Jimmy Graham for example is nothing close to the Tight Ends those guys faced, he would've killed those LBs.
Maybe GM's have a tight knit circle, and Tanny has disuaded some of the better candidates by giving them info on the goings on there
The Browns have hired Chud and Lombardi so far. It is hard being a Jets fans, but I thank God every day that I wasn't born a Browns fan.
OMGWTF, everyone is taking GOOD quality candidates away from usssss. We're such a circus and an embarrassment to the NFL. Nobody good wants to work hereeeee. Please.
We're all just finishing throwing up about the announcement. Oh wait... no... not quite done... gotta go...
Idzik is a tough name to nickname. Ids, Idz, Idzy? When things go bad, 'Beware the Ides of March, and the Ides of NYJ'
I feel so bad for you guys man, I swear you guys were on the come-up with the team you had this previous season. Weeden played pretty well at times, and FLASH Gordon that guy is a beast. Trent Richardson and you got two big-time skill players - hopefully they build on that.
Nothing yet huh ? Maybe I should put up my 74 th post  Fear not gang green all is well in Jetville ,,,,the glass is half full
Seahawks cap guru John Idzik has emerged as the favorite for the Jets' general manager job. Per ESPN's Adam Schefter, Idzik has overtaken in-house candidate Scott Cohen and Pittsburgh's Omar Khan as the "clear frontrunner" to replace Mike Tannenbaum in New York. Schefter reports Idzik could be offered the job "as early as tonight." Idzik's title with Seattle is "VP of Football Administration." He has little to no background as an evaluator of personnel and talent.
Lombardi. ... Bad News....Browns Fans Great News...NFL.Network fans no longer having to endure him kissing Belicheat Kraft and Bradyfag's asses 24/7/365
at least something good comes out of it. Hey, maybe we can convince NFL network to get him to pan the Browns' draft picks immediately after he selects them this year!
Khan & Gamble were the best names for headlines but I preferred Khan. Win or lose, we could've had years of Khan pics & .gifs to entertain ourselves.
