I don't know if there will or won't be but anybody who thinks McElroy is a long term answer is crazy. Once teams get film on him they will be jumping his routes all day. The guy has a great brain and probably would be a great teacher but teams will feast on his lack of athleticism and arm strength. The real test of this coaching staff will be to see how they can minimize or deflect his of deficincies. I don't know if it can be done. If our run game gets stuck in reverse as it likely will as teams will absolutely load the box I don't think G MAC has the skillset to overcome that.

 

Probably not. We just have to hide him for 4 more games. And it looks like he might be easier to hide than Sanchez.

 

I'm listening to ESPN NY and a guy that was at the game called and said that Santonio Holmes was cheering crazy when McElroy came in the game.

 

I am pretty sure nobody thinks G Mc. is the long term answer. We know Sanchez isn't so why waste any more time on him.
The real question is Greg a viable long term backup for this league. Given the schedule the rest of the way - I would let him ride it out and see how it pans out. See if his game smarts are enough to minimize mistakes. Based on what the Jets really want to do on offense he might fit the bill better than the other 2.

At least I think he can hit a running back on a swing pass or screen in stride, something Sanchez and Tebow have both shown difficulty doing.

 

I hate the fact that we have 3 QB options on the Jets and all three seem pretty weak - why cant we have 1 really good QB for once

 

Because short of hiring a hall of fame QB at the end of his career this front office can't pick QB's for their life.

Brooks Bollinger, Kellen Clemens, Erik Ainge, Mark Sanchez, Greg McElroy. That's the whole list since they got hired. It's a pretty pitiful list.

 

nobody thought brady was any good when he replaced drew - you never know.

 

Brady had a decent arm. He was a bit slow of foot and slow of release. Footwork and release time you can teach and Charlie Weis is a hell of an offensive coordinator.

He had also played in an offense that made him air the ball out on a regular basis. The Wolverines of the late 90's threw as much as they ran and used all levels of the field in the passing game.

 

It seems obvious to me that the Jets essentially waited until Tebow wasn't an option, gave Sanchez some rope, and once hung himself they made the move. It's a mighty big coincidence that the move was made once Tebow was deactivated, after Sanchez didn't do anything he doesn't normally do. Sure, he threw three INTs, but he throws 5 every week - the defenders just drop a couple of them.

 

If Greg plays like crap you let tebow play, simpe as that.

Sanchez had his chance. Obviously tannenbaum fucked him over with the lack of weapons addedin the offseason, but great quarterbacks make everyone around him better. Mark will obviously never be a great player.

 

Mark wasn't even a great player when he had Holmes and Edwards as his WRs

 

Exactly. If we had a legit QB on that 2010 team, we probably win the Super Bowl
