I'm curious to see if Discostu570 gives a reason as to why he thinks Chad should start. IMO he's one of the best posters here and I'm surprised to see his name up there.
Me too. Sad to say, but it is looking like he is done. I still say, however, that it is partly the CS to blame. They refuse to even show the deep ball, so defenses are packing it in within 15 yards of the line of scrimmage. I believe even if you are not completing them, just throwing deep onece in a while early in a set of down will loosen up the shorter stuff that Chad can complete in his sleep. I think it is time for a total overhaul of this offense, though.
Im in the same boat, but I was the only one brave enough however to adopt Penny in my sig...If I could do it again, I would still pick him. (hes been great, but his time is up, and Kellen will take over soon)
Chad took us to the promise land a few times, so you have to respect him for that. However, I'm not going to pull a Vinny fanboy and want him to start just because he had a few great years. Past performance does not guarantee future results.
this team is is sad .. and its a reflection of how horrid this coaching staff is..same team as last year only a touch better and we cant stop anybody nor score any points..We are the worst in the NFL..this is not even a chad debate anymore and despite the fact that i used to root for him .. its time to take a hike buddy....the guy has no shoulder and now his ankle is busteed up and this mangini character still has him in there tossing 3 yard passes ... what a fkn joke!!!
i am in the same boat -- chad gave us a chance for years, but watching hm the last 3 weeks you can see he has something wrong with him or his confidence is gone. Either way it isn't fait to he other members o the team, the fans, or the organization to not give Clemens a shot and see if his is the future or if we need to draft/trade for a qb. I think clemens at least give us chance to open up the offence, use the whol field, and make teams have to actual play defense beyond 10 yards whih should help the running game and play action.
Chad's lost something this year. I don't think it's arm strength, at least not in general just a lack of speed on the thrown ball, but it seems to be confidence. He seems to be pushing, like he knows Clemens in hot on his tail and is trying to prove that he is the better QB. Well right now he isn't. The only way Clemens could be a worse QB than Chad right now is if tried to make throws he is physically incapable of (such as across the field on a scramble to the left), chucked needless throws downfield, showed that he couldn't lead the offense, or suddenly lost 95% of the muscle in his right shoulder. How many of the above are qualities that Chad has?
I have always been a huge Chad fan and have defended him all year. Well i cant defend him anymore. We need to start Clemens. this season is over, mind as well see what Clemens can do
This percentage is going up and up every week. After the Baltimore game, it was 50/50. There is really no question anymore.
In this case I will take the 'unknown' over the 'known' commodity of what Chad has become. The guy has been classy every step of the way, hopefully he remains that way after KC takes over the starting QB position.
All along I have supported Chad, and I mean as a person. Everybody knows how much of his body he has given for this team, and respects the sacrifice. Today, watching the game, I can say that I felt outright hatred toward Chad. I know its irrational, and wrong, but I was so very pissed off to see him back out there, drive after drive in the second half, leading the train off of the tracks again. It crossed my mind that if Chad really cared, if he really wanted the team to succeed ahead of his personal goals, he would take a seat immediately. I didn't say it made any sense, I'm just saying that's how angry I have gotten over Chad still playing. And no, I don't really believe that. But I was well on the way to talking myself into that by the fourth quarter. All through a second half of football spent praying for Kellen to come in, possession after possession. When he had his helmet on, and looked ready to come into the game, I knew hope for the first time in weeks. But no, there came Chad again, snuffing out all hope. All year, its been excuses. No running game, Jones had a breakout game. No run blocking, consider that excuse gone as well. Pass protection, the o-line did a very good job of that too. Both the Bills and the Eagles had backfields depleted of talent at DB due to injuries; at the same time, we have very decent talent at WR, there's no reason why both of those teams shouldn't have been torched several times on long passes. So no blaming the skill position players. The defense held one of the, if not The Best RB in the league this season, Westbrook, very much in check for most of the game. Can't blame the rushing defense. Other than the one long bomb in the first quarter, the pass defense did an excellent job today; Both in rushing the passer and passes defensed. An altogether pretty damned great game for the defense and the offense. All except for one player. There's nobody else left to blame for Chad's deficiencies. And I can't help it if I never want to see him again. They've made me hate the guy I've loved for years. I guess there's nothing else I can say.
