Johnson always seemed to make a play when he got a chance. I think he had prior concussion injuries and then last year had another. He might have problems i ma not sure. But i think he could play a role for Eric if he gets a chance.
i think Pouha will be the key to our defense since we are switching to the 3-4 he will be able to use his size to plug up the middle and absorb a couple of blockers which will let our LBs make the plays, look for our LBs to be close to the best in the league. I think I am right but I just hope it is not the usual high expectation and big let down. I really feel this is going to be our year to break out.
I agree Three of our receiveing threats have the potential to put up some numbers in '06. McCareins was supposedly playing hurt last year. Add the injuries we had on offense and the might add up to some low production. Perhaps this season he'll show us why we traded a 2nd round pick for him. Cotchery definitely has the tools. Lets see how he does in the slot. I like Chris Baker and I think he'll flourish in a system that pays more attention to the TE.
Def, I just like to hear a player thats both LB/DE. For some reason that just makes me think their good.
WOW I agree with everything you said except for barret and mccareins... I think cedric takes the starting job toward the end of the year cotchery beats out justin.... Baker goes crazy with receptions in the new offense..Miller will love the defense along with coleman/ Bryan Thomas will start over kimo and Mcglover will start as the 4th lb because i think mangini sees him as a project for him and will favor him allot.... but great post
I don't know what games you were watching but Cedric can lay down the wood, carry defenders on his back and make the tough extra yards. He is the kind of guy you wear down a defense with. He can be a really useful back.
Brad Smith - going to be the suprise of the draft. Will be a game breaker. Anthony Schlegel - going to be the stout run stuffing LB we have needed for too long. Bryan Thomas - he was made for OLB in the 3-4.
Chris baker & DOUG JOLLEY are my candidates to shine this year! They will be used correctly for a change!
Curtis Martin - 1,000+ yards 4.0+ ypc will show people he is not done. BJ Askew - Will be a big weapon for the Jets. Sowell who? Patrick Ramsey - will win the starting job and play well enough for the Jets to re-sign him after the season.
A pleasant surprise isn't Houston stepping up to the plate and performing. A pleasant surprise is the girl next door has the hots for you and one day while you are having a beer in the sun chair in the front yard decides to come over and give you oral sex while you are sipping a coldie. Have to admit, though, if any of the underperformers on the Jets roster do surprise this year it won't be 'pleasant' more that the new regime has got more out of previously underperforming talents. I would put that in the 'hopefully expected' category. Jets fans deserve better than what happened last season. Now if the Jets win the Super Bowl next year, and I get that gobby of the 22 year old next door as well, that indeed will be pleasant. Oooooh yes.
Dude, Johnson is terrible. I haven't seen him make one play in his entire career. If you really paid attention like you say you do, you would know that. Have you ever noticed how teams run directly at him when he is in the game?
My Breakout Players 1.Jerricho Cotchery-he will put McCareins on the bench by week 3, has very good skills and hopefully can finally play with a healthy qb since we got so many on the roster. 2.Justin Miller- another guy who should put a teammate on the bench Mangini should work with him cause he has skills, when he came out he was defenitely a top 20 talent. 3.Bryan Thomas-The dude got all the talent in the world, hopefully he can thrive as a 3-4 OLB the way Abraham would have done for us if he was still here. 4.Kerry Rhodes- had a great season last year considering he was only a 4th rounder. he is a very good athlete who should coontinue to improve under Mangini. 5.Erik Coleman-in his third and working with Mangini should help him, by now he should know what to do.
I see him moving to safety he's fast enough and could be used the same way Don Davis was in New England.
my only response to that is moving from lb to safety isnt an easy transition. i think hed be better off putting on some pounds and trying to get a starting job at OLB(a position we need more then safety).
There is too much competion at ilb and for him to be a OLB in the 3-4 he needs to gain like 30 pounds, he is only 226 which is a perfect weight for a safety.
there is def more of an opportunity for this guy at OLB then there is a saftey(were we have 5 capable players for only 2 positions). and the majority of OLBs weigh 230-245 which makes him undersized but not vastly undersized and his great speed would make up for him being undersized.
