It is clear the Jets have little confidence in guys like Howard and the one they just drafted Oday when they are now prepared to bring Jason Smith back. (Also sounds like they don't like their blocking TEs much as that is how Smith was mostly used last year.) It also appears that Winters is not the player they thought he was. Only the Jets can draft guys for the OL to play positions they rarely if ever played in college. If Winters isn't better than Peterman (a journeyman at best) or the god-awful Vlad it just goes to show how poor the draft team of Rex/Bradway is. How many more of this years' draft crop are going to be cut? Another repeat of last year's poor draft record when so many were let go? We should have drafted Warmack. Quality is better than quantity.

When Jason Smith is your second TE in formation it sure takes the mystery out of your play calling. It screams we are RUNNING.

I agree with that list, but I believe that Dalton Freeman makes the practice squad as well, as the coaching staff seemed very high on him prior to his injury - unless they IR him maybe?

  6. Talk about taking the "worst case scenario" outlook in every imaginable facet. Are you even a Jets fan??

    1. How is bringing in a veteran back-up swing tackle ANY type of indictment on Austin Howard? Even if he was an all world all pro..you need to have reasonable depth on the OL. Aboushi doesn't appear to be ready. Smith never worked out in this league as a starter but is reliable as a back-up

    2. Morningweg doesn't use a lot of blocking TE looks. Additionally the reason why we saw Smith in that role so much last season is b/c their was a clause in his rookie contract that he had to be on the field for a certain percentage of plays or he'd be entitled to a 10M signing bonus. Easiest way to avoid that was to use him as an extra blocker consistently

    3. Winters got the starting nod heading into the Green-white scrimmage. The only thing he's done wrong is have a lingering ankle injury which has kept him off the field. There's been absolutely no mention of him being a disappointment talent or performance wise.

    4. Ducasse hasn't been "god awful" for at least 2 years now. He struggled w/ some technique mental things early. But by the end of last season was splitting starting reps w/ Slauson..and by many people's account(including my own) he was outplaying Slauson. Even so he was penciled in as a 6th linemen type heading into this year w/ several new faces ahead of him & he's managed to fight his way into the starting line-up. That can only be a good thing.

solid over reaction to a depth signing bro.
as far as winters goes. he has been injured. he was on his way to starting prior to. he is alock to make the team along with 4 other picks at minimum.
so you are either trolling or ignorant.

It's both. The dude is a troll. He says the same generic bs about everything we did this year. OMG, why would they draft linesmen, the line must suck!!! He'd probably say the same nonsense about the D line. OMG Wilkerson must be terrible if they had to draft Coples!
