Yes, if the Jets win out, it's likely they get in the playoffs. In fact, I'd be shocked if they DIDN'T make it. Here's the thing: we're not winning out. The only way I can see us beating Indy is if the Jets took a few roughing-the-passing penalties early and scare Caldwell into pulling PM before we give him an ACL injury. And I think today's game showed that even if a miracle occurred and we beat Indy, we'd find a way to lose to Cincy, even if they were locked in. New Coach. New QB. New attitude. SOJ.
In order for the jets to make the playoffs these things have to happen. NYJ-win the next 2 *Jax- Must lose one game, They play the pats in new england next week i think they are goin down. If somehow they win that game they play At Browns which they have been playing good football lately. *Mia- Must lose one game also. they play houston and pitt which they can very well lose one of those. *Jax and Miami are the only teams ahead of the jets without being in the playoffs. So if they both lose one we r right in 7th place. Now one of these must happen if the jets win out and miami and jax lose 1 of 2 games: Bal- Must lose one of the remaining games. At Pitt. At Oakland. Dont understimate the raiders. We would have the same conference record but a better common oppenets record. We beat the pats bengals and colts assuming we win out and baltimore lost to all those teams. Den- Must lose one of the remaining games. At philly Vs KC. Pretty much the eagles must beat them. We have the same conference record however. The jets have a better common opponets record which is the third tiebreaker. We beat the raiders and if we can beat indy thats 2 teams we would have beat that denver lost too. The only team we lost to that denver beat was the pats. But we beat them too. So in common games Jets beat Raiders,Pats,Bengals,Colts if they win. Broncos lost to the raiders and colts. We would have only lost to one team that denver beat and they lost to 2 teams we have beat 2>1. Cincy- They lose next week to the Chiefs at Cincy which is highly unlikely but if somehow they lose and the ravens win both games. The ravens would be 10-6 and the bengals would be 9-7. we would have a chance beat the bengals and get into the playoffs. So if cincy loses next week we root for the ravens cuz we can control Cincy. Get it? IF u really think about it, its doesnt seem impossible infact remotely possible. We have the tie breaker over, Pitt (BEtter conference record) Titans(We beat them) Texans (We beat them). None of this can be possible tho if the jets dont take care of THEIR own business and win the next 2 games. IF they win the next 2 games they will get in IMO. Keep in mind the bengals and colts mite rest there starters.
If Balt loses to Pitt, Denver, Jax, Fins lose one more, and the Jets win out, I think the Jets are in as the 5 seed and the Ravens as the 6.

This is what makes this loss to the Falcons (who had vitually nothing to play for) so painful. If the Jets would have won out the chances of them making the playoffs would have been excellent. It's games like this that really hurt. It's another in the long line of games where multiple things had to go wrong to kill the Jets chances. Now they are actually still in it, but it's so deflating to see another game where they had muliple chances to slip through their fingers once again.
Go Chiefs next week. I would prefer the Bengals to come into Week 17 knowing they will host a Wild Card game and wanting a little rest before hand. Lets say the Jets somehow win in Indianapolis, the Jets could play the Bengals and beat them in New York, then turn around and play them in Cincinnati. Interesting. Gotta win though.
It clear we have a pretty damn good chance IF we win out. Watching the post game comments by Rex concerns me. He was saying things like, we are out of it... and that he believes that he has the core to win a Superbowl but NOT this year. We need to be focused preparing for the Colts.
