I really doubt he means this literally, he probably watched the episode and tweeted that he could see a lot of players watching that and telling their agents that they would want to play for this team.

Anyway, it wasn't players calling their agents "get me on that team whatever you do!"

You don't think players texted their agents, "Man it would be fun to play for Rex." I mean wouldn't that totally be in the realm of possibility. Especially after watching how he conducts himself and camp?

 

Players want to come to the jets not because of Rex Ryan, but because of Manish Mehta.

Today, I heard Westhoff on the radio down here.

He was asked point blank by the the interviewer (Joe Rose former Dolphin)," What is Rex like, is he a joke or is he a good coach or not?

MW said," He is all business. I do not notice all that bluster. He is always watching film and drawing schemes." Intimating that he is an excellent coach.

MW further added," The biggest thing is he isn't miserable. I have been around the league close to 50 years and seen some miserable guys and he isn't. He is a fun guy"

I am totally paraphrasing and going by memory.

MW also added he has his work cut out this year.....lol

Not a joke as in he's laughing at us, just meant that Schefter was also impressed with Rex's appearance on the show and suggested that scenario as a result, but meant it tongue in cheek. So, no I don't think players texted their agents over it. They may have thought it, but no requests. Everyone's under contract, why would they do that?

Let me quote it and pay careful attention to the bolded part... Again you are confusing, "I would love to play for Rex" with "Get me on that team". Two different things. Not to mention the fact they are under contract has no bearing on a text like that.

 

Im sure its part joke but remember....while they are watching this hard knock thing...all of them are participating in their own camps...so watching the Jets do their thing under Rex probably looks like a hell of a lot more fun compared to what they are going through.

Not at all impossible that some players would text their agents saying that they would prefer to be there then where they are today.
