Buccs are before us on the waiver line. We could have put a waiver in and just not gotten him because the bucks get first dibs.
I think as you say, its just people get attached quickly to the draft picks and want them to do well, so it is disappointing to see them cut.
i dont like any of these signings. all i know is that we got rid of a few solid players because tanny was being an accountant instead of a gm.
Oh yeah I agree, its usually that way in all of sports. There's just a special connection with the fans and "homegrown talent", especially in baseball. Fans may see prospects as being untouchable, even if there's a shot they may flame out in the end. Its one thing to have a terrible pick like Anthony Schelgel....but I am not gonna lose sleep over cutting 6th and 7th round picks. Yeah would it be nice to get a Baldwin or Arian Foster type out of those picks? Sure.....but its just not likely to get these steals always.
I would absolutely love Atogwe on this team. He has injury issues but he is a veteran true Free Safety and he has experience playing with Landry.
Its not all his call...if Sparano gives him a reccomendation about a player he was with previously, Tanny will do what he can to please Sparano. Same with someone like Dunbar or Sanjay Lal having seen someone they liked on their previous teams.
Like who? Who did we give away exactly. Other then Allen I can't think of anyone I wanted to be here.
I'm surprised by Allen, I thought the reports on him in camp and preseason were good, and he didn't look terrible out on the field (atleast to my untrained eyes). Maybe it was just a roster crunch problem, where too many players were stacked at one position, which is primarily the reason that we see a decent amount of good players on the WW anyway. So it's not just other teams that are forced to cut good guys, but we may have to as well. I would've liked to see him on the team though, I liked his potential, especially covering TE.
I read earlier that he cuts players based on the money they make and not by their play on the field. Allen, Richardson to name a few.
You make good sense. We really do have no WR's on the team, and we cut Gates. That should tell you about him. But, he was drafted by Sparano's regime in Miami, so that is probably why you have him on your team. Who knows, the kid is fast, maybe you guys will get something out of him, but I wouldn't hold out hope. Also, the kid had trouble learning the playbook his entire stay in Miami. He had trouble learning Sparano's offense, and now with Philbin's complicated WCO... it might as well have been written in Martian. He could not understand it at all.
I don't think it was really Tanny's decision to cut them, he just listened to his coaches and Bradway. Maybe Tanny being an accountant has been one of our worst problems, however. But we're stuck with him for 2012.
Hope he makes the practice squad. Even though he was a 7th rounder I thought he would make it. Seemed like Rex could make him work as a hybrid db/lb. Maybe the guy couldnt play special teams? http://www.webcitation.org/67HpIqe2g
Guys, I understand emotions are running high with our roster moves. It's OK to be upset and express your displeasure, just no more attacks on your fellow Jet Fans.
If he is, it's like we have an extra player with Jesus in the backfield so I'm cool with that. Sadly, I totally agree.
