A lot of people think you're a surfer, and you're not, right? Darnold: Yeah, I’m not a surfer. A lot of people think I am. That might be one thing. It’s funny, I did a commercial for Toyota, and they had a surfboard on top of the car I was driving in the commercial. I was like, ‘Guys, I don’t surf.’ www.espn.com/blog/new-york-jets/post/_/id/77555/one-on-one-with-sam-darnold-pizza-will-ferrell-and-no-surfing
Oh they did. Geno completed 2 of 8 for 5 yards in that game. 3 INTs, 3 incompletions and 2 completed passes. He completed more passes to the Bills than to the Jets. At least our non functional offense doesn't actively give up points, and games have the illusion of being close
??? How you think the Seahawks are wondering about Darnold right now? Arguably the MVP of the NFL lol.
Whatever else Sam is interested in, Id hope he stays interested in if I’m Seattle because he’s a top 5 QB right now.
Come on, @BrowningNagle , this should end the debate right there. You were literally just proven wrong. And the teams that gave up on Sam are kicking themselves in the balls right now. Time to give up Sam "the lazy surfer kid" theory and admit you were wrong. The guy does not surf and is a top 5 QB in the NFL. Unfortunately not for us.
A big part of Sam’s failure here was we took away his favorite target in Robbie Anderson (let’s not even get into how awful it is that Anderson was the best receiver we gave Sam at all), and replaced him with Breshad Perriman. Let that sink in, Perriman was our #1 receiver in Sam’s last year. We did it to Sanchez too, Braylon Edwards and Sanchez clearly had chemistry. Sanchez improved the day Edwards showed up and regressed the day he left.
That is interesting, but surfer kid is referring to the culture and not the actual act of surfing. But if I’m wrong , I’m wrong, clearly it was a stupid decision to get rid of him by several teams. I’m just trying to make sense of it since nobody else can. And it is true that coaches in this league want a robot QB these days
Another player that this fanbase couldn't agree on. I loved him tbh he was as mad as a box of frogs but he was fast and he could catch, 7 stone wet through but he took the hits.
The sad part is you'll make yourself mad trying to rationalize it. I've been on record, multiple times, nearly ALL these QB's are system QB's. I can name less than 5, in my lifetime, who were "mostly" not. Brady, Peyton & Andrew Luck are the QB's, IMO. Brees could be on this list but it was very clear, in San Diego, that system wasn't quite right. As far as Darnold goes, let's face it, he would have been a career backup had he not landed in San Francisco. He went from one dumpster fire into another when he moved on to Carolina. Look at what TWO measly years did for him under Shanahan and McConnell. It's literally THAT simple. Those two coaches taught Sam how to be a QB in the NFL. Something he never got in NY or Carolina and now Seattle has their next FQB for the foreseeable future. THIS is why I am constantly harping on this team of ours NOT drafting a QB. Unless that kid shows up fully ready to go he WILL FAIL in this organization. You want to turn the NY Jets around? Johnson FIRES the entire football operation, pays someone like Bruce Arians or Bill Parcells to build it from scratch and then deports his own asshole to Ireland or England or wherever he can go that will keep his useless ass out of day to day operations. I just picked a couple names off the top of my head but you get the point. And, when I say pay I mean tens or hundreds of millions. Period. There is no other way.
idk he showed stuff here in NY. I thought he was the future for probably longer than I should have. I don’t think Shanahan taught him per se. I think he always had it in him
