Coples got off to a very slow start but that was to be expected with the injury and switching positions.

Starting with the Saints game the guy has been very productive for us. He should hopefully be a force for years to come.

I still wonder why we always seem to think we can remake a player into what we want him to be instead of what he is naturally. Coples should be part of that front 4 as the kid is a DE, not a LB. We take a TE coach and turn him into a OLine coach and wonder why our OLine sucks. We take Cap Guys and turn them into Personnel Guys and wonder why the results are sketchy.

Always searching for the miscast genius. I guess that's how we roll..

A sack in each of the last 3 games, he wasn't miscast before but he's a genius anyway. Now he creates pressure from the edge standing and with his hand down. I'm all for bringing in a new OL coach but I have full faith in Rex's ability to pick, develop, and utilize players on defense at this point. By that thinking I wouldn't even bet against Milliner at this point despite his putrid start.

We took a head coach and turned him into a shitty Offensive Coordinator.

We took a defensive genius and turned him into a mediocre head coach.

We too smart for our own good.

this probably isnt the best place for this but its starting to come up in this thread and it has always bothered me so im just gonna go ahead and say it

do you guys really think that rex has time to evaluate all the talent coming into the draft? hes basically taking his pick from the lot the teams talent scouts have put together. they are told what types of players to look for, so rex is in control of that no doubt, but its not like rex is calling all of the shots come draft day. hell have his input but thats it. there are quite a few people that work year round developing a strategy for the jets come draft day.

i won't speak fr the rest of your post but as far as coples goes, most 3-4 olb were dl in college. not enough teams running 3-4 in college so you have to project if they can play the position on sunday.

looks like rex got this one right

dude.. coples never plays a "LB"… he's rushing from the edges on every play with his hand in the dirt.. sometimes he stands up and rushes… he is the front 4 .. our base d on paper says we are a 3-4 and has him listed as a "OLB".. i watch coples every snap…

unfortunately if we fire rex.. most likely coples will not mix with other systems as i think coaches will look at him as a 5 technique in the 3-4 (DE) or a 3 technique in a 4-3 (DT)… witch would both be taking by mo wilks and richardson..so he would rotate…IMO i think rex has a great mind to use coples the way he has and its working…he's my favorite player on the d and doesn't get the credit he deserves
