Yep. Kudos to the people who said this very thing heading into the draft. I have to admit, I wanted Knowshon if we stayed put in the 1st, but I was very hopeful for Greene in the 2nd if we had gone in a different direction. We definitely nailed those first 2 picks in the draft.

This jsut cements the thought I have of Elam as a good person who has not only overcome a lot in life but thrived. Good for him to be mature enough to sign the paper work to let this happen for the Browns and Jets.

While Elam could have refused to sign off on this as a legal matter, as a practical matter I doubt he wanted to come back to the Jets after blowing their big draft day deal.

If this is true , Elam , we owe you

Very interesting report. Glad we matched Elam's offer sheet. :)

You have to figure that Tanny and Mangina were close. That said, Tanny must've known how much Mangina loves Elam, so Tanny played his cards and won.

Tanny is not just a good cap guy, he knows when to hold'em, knows when to fold'em.

"Aponte spied a minute clause, one unknown-to-most, in the collective bargaining agreement (I bet Roger Goodell didn't know it was in there) that would have threatened the trade and quite possibly put it in jeopardy when the Browns were on the clock at 4:33 p.m. Saturday, trying to send the pick to New Jersey."

is there any further information on this? what exactly are they talking about here?

You know, I was really pissed off on Saturday, and then even more yesterday, but reading up now and seeing the positives from our draft, I think maybe it's worth it to not believe all hope is lost yet.

As for Elam, like BigBlocker said, it's doubtful Elam wouldn't have signed that letter. Would you want to be the guy who ruined the draft for your team? Instead, he'll head out to Ohio and possibly start for a coach who has a serious man-crush on him.

Didn't Tyronn Lue do that in the NBA last year? He was traded and then because he had to approve of the trade decided he didn't want to be traded to the team he was traded to?

I think Elam is smart enough to know that he would be a situational player in Ryan's D but he is a starter in Cleveland. He still gets the money he signed for and he gets to start on top of it. Win/Win for him .....

Kudos to Elam for being a true professional.

Cleveland should be worried that Mangini is making personnel decisions. Yikes.

Although it worked for us in this case.

Thank you Elam, I always liked your big play making ability and I hope you have a great career. I wonder if Mangini wanted Brad Smith?

In the Jason Kidd/Devin Harris deal, Devean George exercised his "bird rights" not to get traded, while Jerry Stackhouse said he'd be back with Dallas in a month, so both needed to be replaced in the deal.

I know this is off topic to an extent, but...

I agree completely about, Shonn Greene. He was by far the BPA, and I honestly think he is going to be such a huge contribution to this offense. I'm so very excited to have this kid on our team. It is awesome to read that quote in bold, "far and away the best player available".

We got a couple of very good prospects from this weak, weak, weak, draft. Greene will be busting AFC East linebackers up all season. Che-YA!
