I must be speaking a different language, because I don't remember ever saying Rex's job is on the line.

There's more to pressure than just keeping your job... some people actually care about their performance, and Rex seems to be one of those people.

Miami is ahead of the JETS? You've got to be smoking joints! I predict the JETS sweep the division this year!

I would say that there is a decent amount of pressure on Rex this year. With the moves you've made in the offseason, the belief is that Rex has been given everything he needs to make a title push. And the fans have a strong belief that the Super Bowl is a real strong possibility. There is also pressure on Rex to get all of these interesting new characters to mesh while simultaniously losing some of his stronger veteran voices in the locker room.

There definitely is a solid amount of pressure on Rex. Not the most in the league, and it's not necessarily pressure that's incapeable to overcome. But there is pressure on him, I don't think that can be argued.

And for the record... I hate Rex, but I know I'd love him if he was our coach. And I really like his defensive mentality in terms of his agressiveness. He's a good coach. But he's got a challenge in front of him. We will really get a chance to see what he's made of this year...

Rex in on a long leash right now. How many coaches have gotten us to the AFC championship? Not too many and he did it as a first year head coach. I can't see any possible way of him getting fired. Woody's got his back.

Rex is on a long leash, but if some crazy way the Jets go 3-13 this season, he will be fired. I remember Woody said that "Mangini will definitely be back after 2008" and he was fired a few days after the season ended.

the only way this team goes 3-13 is a shit ton of injuries in which case rex would certainly not be fired.

Even if we go 3-13 this year, Woody won't consider firing Rex. We've seen/heard Rex when we've won; imagine the shitshow he'd create if we're a losing-team...

Whether Rex is a winning or losing HC, currently, whatever he does, will generate $$$ for Woody. Rex's job is almost as secure as anyone's job can possibly be.

A lot of speculation on that pick. Yeah if everything pans out to the ideal situation, sure maybe, but when does that ever happen? Too many question marks IMO to accurately see what the Dolphins have.

They might have had the best off season of any team in the NFL though.

Peter King is taking a shot in the dark, and while ranking the Dolphins at #6 may seem absurd to some, they actually did field a pretty solid team last season, and they got a hell of a lot better during the offseason.

They beat us twice last season, and they're going to be tough to beat again this season.

i'm still wondering how losing taylor, porter, and ginn, and bringing in dansby and marshall [who is a hellava player] means the dolphins had the best offseason?????????????????

i'm predicting right now, the dolphins start the season 2-5.

To be fair, Taylor, Porter and Ginn were not part of the core of the Dolphins team... the guys they brought in will be.

The Dolphins are definitely worth putting into consideration with the Jets and the Patriots for top team in the AFC east.

here are the dolphins first 9 games, buff, minn, jets, pats, gb, pitt, bengals, balt, and tenn.

except for the bills, i think all these teams [right now] are better than the dolphins.

so dolphin fans, please explain all this were gonna win the division talk???? cause i dont get it.

i disagree, say what you want about taylor and porter, the fact is, that was 16.5 combined sacks for those two last season.

dansby, playing for a horrible defense, who was always in the rush the qb mode, [ due to the cards always being up a lot on teams] is an ok player.

rex obviously likes and thrives under pressure, a year ago he walked into a team that lost Favre and had just choked their way out of the div title losing 4 of 5. he created pressure by talking big b/c he believes what he says. I'm confident that he can handle whatever pressure comes, if we don't make the SB or don't even make the playoffs it won't be b/c we pulled a Henne and buckled undre the pressure:smile:

any coach without the stones to claim his goal is to win the sb should not be a head coach.

can you imagin rex saying "our goal this year is to come in 4th in the nfl"

most coaches would kill for a 4th place finish.

    rex would kill himself.
