Well I guess I am a bad fan because I wasn't in Tibet....just in Canada.

That fat bastard doesnt take into consideration what an absolute joke that area has become with all the construction.

Fighting through it for 8 regular seasons deserves a medal. Preseason game because of Favre? I guarantee the tv ratings for the game in the first quarter were much higher then normal.

As far as the people that were there..bravo...the cheer that went up when we scored a touchdown with Favre was like a regular season game.

    Correctemundo.

Furthermore, anyone in the NY area who was not at the game and who is criticising the lack of attendance is a hypocrite. You could have purchased good tickets (like mine) on Stubhub for pennies on the dollar, parking included. Why weren't YOU there? (Not you, Winston)

I bet you and me are the only tic holders and the others sit on their asses and criticize us season tic holders. I had plans as did my other tic holders and no scrimmage, I don't care if Joe Willie was playing, is going to make me go. And the Giant fan thing is a myth created by the media. Lets see how many people show up at the Giant game tonight. Its the first game at home since the last regular season game. Big game, gotta cheer the Super Bowl champs, first time as the Champs. If you have tickets, you should stay up all day and night looking for some tool to waste their time at a scrimmage or you are a loser. And BTW, my friend picked up tics at the game for $10 ea. Where were all you posters?

I couldn't agree with your first point anymore. Before the "parking pass" and Xanadu came to fruition, you could go to the Meadowlands on a whim and scalp the shit out of some tickets. If you don't score tickets, who cares, you can be outside (granted its nice), tailgate, hang out, and listen to the game, all the while hearing the cheers emit from the stadium.

Nowadays, it's a f*cking travesty going to games. It's more of a hassle than ever to get to the stadium WITH a pass, let alone without one.

So THAT SAID, I attended the game. For the exact reasons stated before. But in reality, Favre didn't take his first snaps as a Jet on Saturday nor was Saturday's game Favre's first game as a Jet. His first game as a Jet comes next season (whether its the first Jets scrimmage or the first pre-season game or the first game of the season) will be Favre's first game as a Jet...like Favre says you have to bleed with the team before you can be a part of the team.

Saturday's game was more about a historical quarterback who solidified a hall-of-fame career with an iron-man 17 year no injury run with one team, a man who defied the free-agent era, an era filled with players jumping from team to team for money, debuting with the Jets...after 17 years, a GENERATION WITH ONE TEAM....That was the historic aspect of Saturday, I think King missed that point entirely. This didn't fall on Jets fans, this fell on NFL fans. Fuck King

So do I feel bad that the stadium was half empty? No. But the stadium certainly sounded earth shaking when Favre ran out of the tunnel.

It was a freakin pre-season game... Have any of you EVER heard a crowd at a pre-season game as loud as ours was for the first quarter Saturday?

I sure haven't... Only 35,000 fans spent a gorgeous Saturday night on one of the last weekends of summer packed like sardines into a stadium in the swamp watching a glorified practice session? What a travesty!

Who cares what this guy says. It was a freakin pre-season game on a saturday night. I think that almost every team in the NFL would have had a similiar turn-out. Get a life Peter King

I don't know, that game seemed to have way more fans than usual at a preseason game. Usually the Jets Giants game has the most fans in attendance and the Skins game had more people there then the Jets Giants game usually does.

Like Biggs said, it's bad enough people are forced to buy the damn tickets. No one should be criticized for wanting to do something else, whatever it may be.

  11. I've had my criticisms of many jets fans over the years..but to me this is reaching. The ticket prices to watch favre play 10 meaningless snaps is not worth it. What king fails to mention is the overwhelming attendance at TC since Favre came on. 2 Hours, often standing the entire time..in boiling heat...to watch 15 live 11-11 plays at most...and the turnout has been some of the best in the entire league!

Yeah, well said. NFL Preseason is such a racket for owners, I'm actually pleased that Jets fans didn't contribute with their presence.

Actually Brantford Ontario is further from civilization than Tibet is. Have you seen what people wear to the Lynden park mall? Last time I was there it was mullets and Metallica shirts :)

I think King's comment is just spurred by Saturday's attendance, and is really a comment based on his observation over time.

No argument that NY metro offers more to its inhabitants than Jets football -- what's the alternative on a similar scale in Green Bay week to week, or Tennessee, at the professional level. But that being said, arguing that traffic or other events give Jets fans a reason to balk at attending preseason games (they paid for) doesn't speak well to their fanaticism. On this board after losses, there's more talk about leaving early to avoid traffic than anything.

This coming from a guy who bought season tickets off a friend for the '95 season, sat through all 8 games of hell (sans the game vs. the expansion Jaguars). Go to Pittsburgh if you want to see how football is treated like religion. The draft is considered our shining example of fandom, and half though knuckleheads couldn't tell you Kenny O'Brien from Kenny on South Park.

Nothing better then not living up to unknown expectations! All NFL Fans of teams have their ups and Downs . How about needing a police escort to get out of Gillette. How about doing absolutely nothing other then being a Jets fan in Tampa Bay in 2000 when the Jets shocked the Buc's and being grabbed and thrown out of the stadium. O-Please Peter king Blow my nut! In an imperfect world we look for perfection huh! Just ask Brady boy ; that's real hard to find.

The season hasn't even begun and the expectations are already being stacked up against us all. Let not forget "We're the Jets " we aren't supposed to succeed , we aren't supposed to have issues as a fan base. We just endured a year from hell not 1-15 , but pretty damn bad. Its going to get better and we don't need peter king to tell us how bad we are!

It's a preseason game...i'm pretty confident Favre's real debut as a Jet will be raucous event. King is a Douche. Has anybody else heard the rumor about Peter King and his vicious case of genital warts? They say it looks like he's smuggling cauliflower in his pants.

80% of football fans don't even follow pre-season. They're all waiting for the start of regular season. $hit half the people I know that play fantasy football have no idea what has transpired in training camps including late pickups, injuries and position competitions and what have you. I don't know if I expect opening day to be packed but it would be a good bet. This isn't Green Bay.
