haha, yeah i know. But what's your point? That many other big name coaches wouldn't? Many big name coaches take over teams coming off of disastrous years. That's usually the way it works - coaching changes are made following dissopointing seasons.
I thought Carroll did a good job--as I recall, he went 10-6 his first season, no? Then, his 2nd season wasn't too good (6-10 maybe?). Anyway, I liked his enthusiasm but like others have said, his personality is best for the college ranks. If I was an SC fan, I'd be pissed though. He's disappointed recently. I think he likes being "the guy" down there and he's probably banging coed after coed.
High school coaching is a combination of coaching and luck (since there isn't that much recruitment that goes on at the high school level). College coaching is about recruitment of talent. NFL coaching is more about coaching than either of the other two.
One good coach in over 40 years (OK 2. Weeb Ewbank counts)?? And that coach only managed to hang around for 3 years. In the time since the last Jets coach was actually fired we've seen at least 4 coaches leave on their own accord.
Hahah, you have no idea how sports are done south of the mason-dixon line. There is plenty of recruiting going on at the high school level.
Except that the Jets weren't, the Patriots were. Sorry folks, but if this was a comment about NFL coaching in general, it wouldn't have been about the Jets, since he coached 3 more years in the NFL (with a record of 27-21), and made the playoffs in two of them. The only thing that makes sense is that he was talking about the Jets and New York, not the NFL in general.
