Per Chan Gailey - Barring injury, Geno is Week 1 starter

Did the CS make the right decision regarding Geno

  1. Yes - Geno was the only viable option at Qb so why not name his the starter and be done.

  2. No- There should have been competition for the job. Geno should have had to earn it.

  3. This is May. It doesn't matter what the CS says.

Don't read too much into it,,,,,,fits might be more hurt and behind than we realized or Geno gets a shot but a short leash,,,time will tell

Could be that they are just shutting the media up so they don't have to answer QB competition/controversy questions for the next 3 months

He did say "probably" so there's nothing set in stone

this is just common sense, no team would want to go into a season w/ Ryan Fitzpatrick anointed starter. Gailey has seen that before, it doesn't end well. If Geno plays like he did last year he will eventually be benched but going in he's clearly #1.

Geno has more physical upside than Fitz.

But going back to 2010 Fitz has always produced more TD's than Int's and is a career 60% completion passer.

And in even his worst year, he tossed more TD's than Geno did in either year.

Fitz is the better more solid player, right now.

In Fitz's best year he led his team to 6 wins, Geno has already surpassed that.

Chan Gaily is a piece of shit and once again Geno gets the starting job without even competing. How does someone get handed a starting NFL QB job for three straight years with never competing and having the lowest QBR in the NFL for the previous two years. I was being positive this year and pretty happy after the draft, but even the best Defense in the NFL can't overcome the worst QB in the NFL. Chan Gaily sucked before and he still sucks. Our HC was an idiot for hiring him.

I said that last year and then Vick essentially tuned-out the instant he saw he wasn't going to get a shot to start and the whole season went to hell, again. If the coaching staff doesn't feel that Fitzpatrick is good enough to compete for the starting job, then the GM FUBARed the offseason because his only job was to find a QB that's at least capable of competing for the starting job with the worst starting QB in the league. End of story.

Geno has been really bad BUT he was good last preseason and camp, he earned the job last year.

if Fitz didn't get hurt, the Texans prob make the playoffs last yr. You can argue he was playing the best ball of his career.

It only counts in the regular season, and that's where Geno is bad, I don't care how he looks in TC or preseason.

And how do you feel about the OC making this decision? Should it not be the HC?

And if Geno ever sniffed 24 TD's we're not a top 10 pick last year, we're a playoff team. The year before as well. What did he go, like 6 weeks in 2013 without a TD pass?

Geno had the benefit of playing on a team that was 11th and 6 overall defensively in 13,14.

Right now, Fitz is the better player.

Naaahh..This may be part of evaluating what they think they have in Smith.

(for instance...having been annointed, will he be self motivated or a prima donna)

    Smith

And...it will make Fitz work that much harder once he smells blood in the water.

    Who would you start?
