here's the bottom line. The price tag is too high for Favre, so chances are..he's not coming to the Jets...period. I can't see Tannenbaum coughing a draft pick higher than a 3rd rounder for him...so any speculation there is futile at best.

But having said that...for all you that think Favre makes horrible decisions, is an INT machine, and that he's an idiot....you need to remove you heads from your assholes. The guy is STILL a top 5 QB, had one of his best statistical years of his career last season, and he's the most durable QB in the history of the NFL.

Unfortunetly, the Jets won't get Favre....but saying that he would be a detriment to this team if we did get him, is fucking absurd.

Here's my problem: If Favre really had a Super Bowl left in him don't you think the Pack would be falling all over themselves to welcome him back? It's not like Aaron Rodgers looks like the second coming at this point and Favre was a wildly popular QB in Greenbay.

No..the problem is that Rodgers is the first guy drafted under Thompson's regime ...they invested a lot of time and money grooming him to replace Favre...and when Favre finally retired...Thompson gave Rodgers the green light.

Thompson has quietly wanted Favre to retire 2 seasons ago...Rodgers is HIS guy..SuperBowl or not.

That does not change the fact that if the Packers thought Brett Favre was a sure fire bet for a Super Bowl they'd bring him back. They don't think that. They think Favre is a QB with diminishing skills and that his erratic play in big games has become more and more pronounced over the years. That's why they're giving him the cold shoulder.

You don't say no to a hall-of-fame QB without a much better reason than the one you outlined above. Not after he's just had the kind of season that Favre had last year.

I think it comes down to a pissing match...seriously. It's Favre's ego vs. Thompson's ego. I know it sounds petty....but i think that's what this really is.

There's so much going on behind the scenes that we're not privy to.

Career year numbers when he has this Packers team around him. Two years ago with a horrendous o-line this guy puts up 29 picks. Faneca I'll count as an improvement but until I see Damien Woody play some more at RT it's not exactly a lock that we've improved that position. Now, put Favre on this team with a possible RT problem and a receiving corps whose #1 player has been suffering from concussions and leg injuries for the past two years and all of a sudden the talent pool around him starts to shrink. This is where Favre gets in trouble by forcing passes into traffic and ending comeback drives with INTs.

  7. Just when I thought the QB talk was finally gonna die...Favre to the jets rumors had to start.

The rumors have been that he's not coming to the Jets, but the sheep just want to flock to speculated bullshit created by moron fans. Those who hold the intellect have to endure the suffering.

    Suffer with me Kurt.

  9. This board has actually made begin to hate the QB position like a veteran weakside DE. I understand it's a high profile position and one we have alot of questions at..but c'mon...there is SO much more to the game of football.

this is the best statement so far. we are a win now team missing the biggest piece of the puzzle. favre had one of the best years of his entire career last year. there is no reason he cant do the same with this team. we have a quality running game, a quality o-line, and a pretty good recieving core (definitely comparable to the one he had last year). the bottom line is he is better than what we have hands down. as far as the cap, im sure the jets FO can get crafty with how they take the hit so this could work. i think all jet fans should be dissapointed if the FO doesnt at least try and make a move.

    REQUIEM,

Why do you have temper tantrums when people don't see things YOUR way?

    I mean, really.

This is a forum, which means people are allowed to have their own personal opinion on things and you don't necessarily have to agree, that's well and good.

But, you have a bad habit of pouting and throwing yourself on the floor, rolling around and beating the floor with your fists and feet, when people don't agree with your assesments.

Kinda reminds me of my 4 year old.

Just a thought, learn to agree to disagree. And if you do not necessarily agree, just explain your position, clearly and concisely, without the finger pointing and name calling, the caps and the exclamation points and maybe, just maybe, you can have an adult discussion with people, and if people don't agree with you, it's ok.

Just shrug it off and move on. Your gonna bust a blood vessel one day.

I'm sure however I'll probably get your 'best' for advising you that this is not a life altering experience, its just a bunch of guys, shooting the sh*t and that it's really not that serious.

    It's gonna be ok.

I love this board. True football fans with real savy. Geoff George, maybe the stongest arm I've ever seen in football and a brain like a baboon.

Amen. Thats why I root for Brett Ratliff. When these two QBs don't work out, I can complain since I didn't want them starting anyway.

I'd like to see other positions discussed, but this is the position that everyone is so passionate about.

For all of this to really go away, Chad needs to be on another team. The longer he is here, the longer the arguments continue. Its sad but true.

    Favre

Honestly i dont see us getting Brett Favre. I think we are going to have go through pre-season and see what quarterback we go with from there, and who did better in training camp. I believe that on by our first regular season game Kellen will be our Qb. I dont see us play Pennington at all, especially by next year when the ticket prices skyrocket. Fans arent going to go to a game to see a Qb that dont want to see play.

Should be interesting to see if the Jets role the dice on Favre. I'm sure it will spark another "win now" team argument that'll go nowhere fast but it'd be hard to argue against it if this were to come to pass.

On one hand he'd immediately become the best QB on the roster. On the other hand he may only have a season or two in the tank. May not be enough time to get this entire team clicking on all cylinders.

Another thing to consider is that he won't be in his comfort zone anymore. This is the NY/NJ market not the GB market. If things go poorly this season then theres a great chance he hangs it up for good leaving his new team in the dust. Favre, good as he's been (in the regular season) seems like a bit more of a risk then he mite be worth.
