Maybe he can, maybe he can't. But what happens if he cant. Then what? Who are you gonna point the finger at then?
But thats not the answer. You dont jus keep getting QB's. This isnt Madden or Fantasy Football You have to let someone develop. Thats exactly why this is ridiculous, your gonna kill two QB's with one stone. We just paid Pennington ALL of his money, so you would also be flushin that down the toilet too...You all saw how clemens played in the preseason, why you think he's gonna be better know is beyond me...
The problem is that the players in the locker room appear completely behind Chad at the moment. Look at the situation with Dallas. There was grumbling in the locker room that the players wanted to go with Romo. Eventually Parcells put him in and the players were behind it 100%. The Jets' players appear to be behind Chad right now. If Mangini replaces him wtih Clemens and the majority of the team is firmly behind Chad as the starter, they potentially risk a nasty situation in the locker room. A first year coach does not need that distraction.
Not trying to minimize the importance of Pennington's less-than-stellar performance Sunday, but did anybody see Eli Manning's performance last night? Want to talk about a disappointing QB? And to think, the Giants gave up Phillip Rivers for this loser and signed him for an absolute Cap-in-hell-choking fortune. Balls behind receivers, ankle level, over their heads, underthrown, key INTs up the whazoo, lousy mechanics and decision-making... he made Penny look like Joe Montana last night. If Chad had performed anywhere near what Eli Manning looked like last night, guys on this board would be self-immolating by now.
Hell, it could have been even worse if the Jags didn't get that hands to the face penalty that negated that fumble return. Chad may have thrown across his body to get intercepted, but WTF was Eli thinking on THAT play. Throwing the ball underhanded WHILE being sacked? Yeah, I think we know who has the brains in THAT family. But I guess it's no big deal. Eli has a big arm, can make all of the throws, and throws for more yards than Chad Chad might have had a bad game, but Eli looked completely clueless out there last night.
Some on the radio were saying the Giants are lucky the score wasn't 41-3. Manning looked absolutely horrible.
..not to mention the picks that led to Shawn Merriman and two other guys. Good trade, from a J!E!T!S! fans perspective. I mean, it isn't good that Rivers is in the AFC OR that Jacksonville went to 6-4 last night because of Eli, but part of me is still happy. Giddy, even.
W/o Chad we don't beat Ten, we don't beat Buf, we don't beat Miami, we don't beat NE. He hasn't played as well as he did early in the year but he's only been bad in 3 games. The guy is coming off 2 surgeries, you ahd to expect bumps in the road. There you go again basing eveything off stats. That was his last 300 yd game but he's played well in other games including the NE game. The only games he's played badly in are Jax, Cle and Chi and he led us to the tying TD against Cle but we got screwed. Where did I say ONE bad game? What has mangini done that is the reason we are 5-5? The biggest difference in this team this year has been a healthy Chad. W/o him we have 2 maybe 3 wins. I like Mangini but he has cost us 2 games w/ poor decisions.
You know where I stand on the Giants. My little tirade several weeks ago about what a typical Giants fan is like is not all that far-fetched... dressed for the game in his navy blue Tommy Bahama slacks with matching Nordstrom red-and blue cardigan pullover tied neatly over the shoulders... throw-back penny loafers with red silk socks. Looking down their noses at smoky-faced, beer-swilling Jets fans while "tailgating" on shrimp cocktail and lobster-roll sandwiches and sipping Yellow Tail from the back of their Mercedes SUVs. Disdain doesn't even come close to describing my dislike of Giants fans. And now their "franchise quarterback" is faltering! Good Heavens!
Right after Vinny came back from a terrible injury, not unlike Chad who is 2 game under since coming back in 04 from he's first shoulder injury.
Chad's only had 13 games since coming back from injury. All we have to do to see Chad's worth is to look at last year. The Jets were 1-2(should have been 2-1 if Chrebet catches that TD against jax) w/ an injured Chad and went 3-10 w/o him. When Chad plays 90% of the time we have a great chance to win.
So we had a lossing record with Chad before he went down and because we sucked with Brooks Bollinger and a middle aged Vinny T that is somehow a statement that Chad is more than barely adequate at this point? I like how 1 and 2 is 2 and 1 if, could, would. The Int's that are tipped don't count but the lucky TD's do? It all adds up, you are what the numbers say you are and right now Chad is a bottom 10 QB who losses more than he wins since coming back from his first shoulder injury.
