Totally agree, he's a class act and I'm real happy for him. It's truly inspiring to see what he did. I also waited a couple years for Eric Gagne to come back to the Dodgers, and when he came back in June to get a save against the Mets it almost brought me to tears. Then it turned out to be a mirage as he was done again for the year. So watching Chad come back, I had some fear and doubt in the back of my mind for him, but he's made it through and we're in the playoffs.
It's disgusting that people honestly believe Brees deserved no consideration, so I really wish people would stop acting like it would have been a crime. Believing Chad deserved it is one thing, being totally against either Brees or Palmer winning it is ridiculous. BOTH of those guys came back from injuries that could have ended their careers, and Brees had the BEST SEASON in the NFL as a QB. (That's a comeback kiddies, whether you like it or not.) Anyway, I'm glad Chad won. He did, IMO, deserve it MORE than Brees, and Palmer. Two career ending injuries to lead a team with "no offense" into the playoffs is flat out impressive. Congrats Chad.
Chad came back from more, was out longer and got to the playoffs. Nothing against the other guys, but he deserved it the most. The other guys pretty much still had guaranteed jobs waiting for them, Chad had to win his back and recover form injury.
He certainly deserved it. I cannot even imagine the hell he went through to come back. From the hard work of rehab to the open competition to the constant doubt of the fans and media, he beat all of it. This is what athletics is about, folks. Congrats, Chad. You certainly earned this award.
I don't think Brees or Palmer's careers were ever really in serious doubt. Chad's comeback is far greater, that's why he deserves the award.
Congrats to the man Chad P. Props are well deserved. Now, let's see 'em beat the Pats. New York beating Boston/New England is NEVER a bad thing.
Well said. I learned more about life and fighting adversity from Chad and this team then from anybody or anything in the sports world during my life. He may not have the arm of Tony Kornheiser's daughter, but he is the man.
The reason that Brees and Palmer didn't get any consideration from this award is because they didn't miss any playing time last season (both were injured in the last game.) Pennington was out for most of last year and his career almost ended. It's a well deserved award, so congratulations to Chad. Now let's see the Patriots try to use it as bulletin board material somehow...
This is a rare and amazing accomplishment. I had a single shoulder proceedure and the rehab is absolutely brutal. For Chad to have two on a throwing shoulder and come back to play the way he did this year is nothing short of astounding. No one has ever done this in the history of professional sport. While comeback player of the year is a nice award, it should really be comeback player of the centruy. The accomplishment is nothing short of incredible.
