Only 9 freaking pages of Chad talk? C'mon people.. you can do better than that.. we should be up to 20 pages of discourse by now. We must be distracted by being 3-0 or something.
This is very sad news. I know everyone on here has mixed opinions of him. He could have been great but he was never durable. There isn't a better person in the NFL and I wish Chad all the best. I appreciate what he did for us and I'm sure he'll be successful in whatever he decides to do. as much as I like Chad and respect him I am sure glad this isn't ruining another one of our seasons. This was why we got rid of him. He could have been great but too many damn injuries.
Personally I think it's the same injury that keeps recurring. It's amazing he came back at all from it, let alone twice. It's not like he kept doing different things, yes he had an ankle for a few weeks and the wrist the one year, but most of the time he's missed and the problems he's had stems from the same recurring injury to his throwing shoulder.
Pretty much the case IS. I was watching the game and when he took the hit to the head he looked like he was a little out of it when he came back in right before the shoulder injury. I wouldn't be shocked if he had a minor concussion before he hurt his shoulder. He looked pale and out of it to me. Pennington is usually a pretty focused guy and something looked wrong before the injury.
I think it makes it easier to reinjure it, but if you saw him play last year his arm and passes looked as good as they had in years. The last injury was four years ago, almost exactly, and in the time since he had gotten stronger, but I think it still is more vulnerable to getting injured again than a guy who had never gotten hurt.
I didn't see the game, was on my way back from the Jet game and got busy with the kids. By the time I put it on Henne was in and they showed the replays of Pennington getting hit, the bloody nose and the play when he landed on the shoulder. I'm still not clear what happened first or how, I just feel bad for the guy. Like I said earlier, I want to beat these guy on the field, not see them get hurt. Same as Brady last year and Marino back in the day when he did his achilles.
I watched the game and just knew he was done. Weird, I hate Miami but I now actually feel bad for them. We know how they are feeling right now.
When I saw Chad's face on the sideline with his pads and stuff off I knew it was bad. I feel awful for him but not for Miami, that's the breaks. I wanted him off that team badly but not this way.
I can't see him coming back a third time. If he chooses to retire, he'll have a good career to look back on - a couple of AFC East titles, a playoff win, comeback player of the year, and high passer and completion rates. In other words, a better NFL QB career than 90% of the guys who have played QB in in the NFL. Get well soon...
I agreed it was time for Chad to go from the Jets but I truly feel bad for him... He was a good Jet and a great teammate and leader... I hope when he makes his decision to hang it up he does it on a one day contract in front of the Jets banner... we owe him that much... it's kinda weird that it was the Chargers who ended both Chad's and Chrebet's careers
That's especially true from a Jets perspective. He's going to be a lot tougher on our defense than Henne would have been.
Yes, but in both cases the guy was one more shot from it being the last and San Diego happened to be the other team. I remember Al Toon's last play in Denver, looked like nothing but it was one too many.
