(1) Sandusky admitted the naked bear hugs in 1998. (2) In 2002, his assistant, who was a starting QB for him and trusted him like a father, says "I personally SAW and HEARD Sandusky fucking a 10 year old in the same shower. What should we do?". How is that not credible? How can he be full of shit? How can JoePa not feel an obligation to call the cops? The reason is simple and it still rings in his message today when he says that he will do everything he can to protect PSU and his legacy.
He's been cleared of any criminal wrongdoing. Civil liability is another story. I could see PSU writing out some big ass checks on it and Joe Pa's behalf.
just got done reading the GJT, and have to say that is some of the most disgusting vile things i have ever read. Sandusky is a cretin who deserves whatever the worst that can be done to a person is. I am baffled by how this actually happened. The Janitor reports this to his janitorial bosses/fellow janitors and none of them reported it to anybody. Thats worse than what Mccreary did, at least he told somebody. Mccreary should have stopped it right away, but I can at least see him being completely in shock witnessing his best friends father, and fellow coach, a guy he played for, and for all intents and purposes his Idol, raping a 10 year old. I can understand him walking away in shock, and going to Paterno after he got his head on straight. When Mcceary went to the meeting 10 days after meeting with administration, them saying we took his keys away is when he should have gone directly to the police. The fact that he didnt is where I find fault in him. I just can't find a reason why the hell the penn State AD and presidents and whoever else, why they didnt turn him in? Under what circumstances can they possibly think their actions were even remotely good enough? The one thing that they did that baffles me, is tell the leaders of Second Mile (the foundation that Sandusky found all of his known victims in) and they let him stick around. WTF is wrong with these people? Morally every single adult is wrong in what they did, or rather did not do. I don't understand how every body knew to some level in 2002, and nobody thought it worthy to mention, even in passing to any form of law enforcement? What the flying fuck is wrong with these people? What might be the most scary thing in all of this, is the thought that this might actually be commonplace nationwide with the pedophiles that unfortunately do live among us. If Sandusky were really a man of power (as in if hypothetically he was Penn States coach, not Jo-Pa) and it happend, it still would be inexcusable, but at least at some level people could say it was the power that kept him safe for so long. Sandusky doesn't really have that in his court, so if he was protected this long, how long are 'normal' pedophiles being protected before being brought to justice? Side note: where the fuck was this guys wife? Didnt she find it odd he had little boys sleeping in his basement, where he would sneak off to the basement in the middle of the night to sleep with them? um how can she not be at least remotely suspicious that something fucking wacky is going on?
At the end of the day, its the only thing I can think of as to why everyone involved didnt turn him in immediately. But how could they think it would stay quiet forever? Its a known fact, that if left unchecked pedophiles (and rapists for that matter) will continue to do so until something forces them to stop. It was eventually going to get out, and when it got out, them covering it up was going to be infinitely worse for the university and the legacy of Jo Pa/Penn State that they tried to cover it up for a decade. The Stain on the university has to be infinitely larger, and infinitely longer lasting than if they had turned Sandusky over to authorities in 2002?
the Penn State Pedophile Protectors......hope Joe and the redhead get shot on saturday while on that sideline......im praying for this event to occur
Only in the most twisted moral universe would someone say "beat Nebraska" in the midst of all of these horrifying allegations. I hope Nebraska puts up 60 on PSU this weekend.
I don't think the football thing should factor into this at all. If it was the basketball team, it wouldn't matter and it shouldn't because it's football either
legally he did what his bare minimum requirement was. that is different than what society deems he had a responsibility to do based on the level of power and influence he had. the man at the top is held to a higher standard than bare minimums in these situations, and society is clearly saying he had a greater responsibility than just his legal minimum obligation, hence why he isn't being sought to be prosecuted but being held to a social punishment -- criticism and forced resignation. if you don't know the difference between those two, you aren't just the least knowledgeable poster on the board but the f'ing dumbest. your response has no relevance to what is actually being discussed. all allegations run the risk of not being true, that is what court of law are for -- to determine guilt or innocence. but if it never gets to a court or law there is no way to find out, and Paterno's inaction clearly indicated a lack of interest in seeing it get there, because he certainly had the power and influence to do so, and the socially responsibility based on his position to do so, except in ran to his personal interests. he put his personal interests ahead of social responsibility and that is what he is being held accountable for.
they are discussing some PSU player alumni may and should think twice about going to the game for obvious reasons...... actual number of kids may be higher than 20...... really no way there shouldn't be an immediate house cleaning....
president may be ousted this afternoon..... joe pa very distraught and should immediately step down but.......
As a current Penn State student myself, one who did not riot last night, I can say a lot of the riots were focused on Graham Spanier, our president who has done absolutely nothing over the past week but make one statement in support of Curley and Schultz. The man knew just as much as Joe Paterno did with more legal responsibility and has gotten away with no harm to this point. It's absolutely disgusting to me that he stands as the president of my university, and the students were just trying to emphasize that last night. I'm not saying Joe Paterno is not at fault here, he absolutely had the moral responsibility to pursue this issue further and failed to. I agree that he needs to step down and walk away from this program. But the National Media has turned him into the scapegoat for this just because he's the only party involved that people outside of State College has ever heard of before. Tim Curley, Graham Spanier, Mike McQueary and of course Sandusky himself are more at fault yet it's JoePa taking almost all of the blame in the national media and stepping down. Even Tim Curley, is only on a "leave of absence" at this point while he handles his legal issues, and I don't understand why people outside of State College aren't calling for his head. As a student I ask you to refrain from making generalizations about Penn State has a whole from an incident isolated to our football program. Don't hope for Nebraska to kill us this weekend, as none of our players and most of our coaching staff have nothing to do with this incident. I will continue to support this university, while at the same time I hope for a clean wipe of our football program and our executive leadership, especially with Graham Spanier at the top. Corruptness through the athletic department does not reflect students in an academic sense at this school, as honor is taken very seriously throughout the student body.
So you agree with me that saying "Beat Nebraska" to a screaming group of kids is sick and shows a totally out or whack sense of moral priorities by JoePa?
