That would be swell if it weren't for two throwing arm rotator cuff surgeries.

You're going to need more than that post to make you feel better if he takes over the Raiders.

YEA your getting excited over some writer theory. Hackett would never get Raiders head coaching job as his philosphy and Davis clash. Hackett is in oakland to help IN Jamarcus Russedll development(Rich gannon credits his development to Paul Hackett) and to probably be another pair of eyes upstairs. Also most likely could be sucessor to Greg Knapp as OC next season, as Knapp is probably going to Seattle. Now you probably saying that scary, Paul Hackett as anyone OC. Not In Oakland as Lane Kiffin calls all the plays. SO hackett is Kiffin little helper (make sure you get the headcoaches Coffee)

I would be more worried that Jets big coaching Hire this offseason was Bill Callahan. THe same Genius who didn't think it was necessary to change the terminology for Gruden plays. So when Tampa Bay Players heard the audilizing at line of scrimmage. They knew where the play was going everytime.
    How Dumb is that.

jeaux, you are the best at taking an argument and completely abandoning the subject when you really have no point to make, which is always. If we are talking about the Raiders, you start talking about the Jets. If we are talking the Jets, you start bringing up the Raiders. You never have a point. Just a bunch of letters cleverly grouped together to vaguely resemble the English language.

You do know Bill Callahan was hiried by the Jets top be their Oline coach and to help Shotteheimer with the offense. Now this is the same Bill Callahan that didn't have the common sense to change Grudens plays.(the same wording Gruden used) D U M M Y. Callahan was a big part why Tampabay players look so great in superbowl.(they knew where the ball was going everytime) Yea this guy is Jets fans savior to devise a blocking scheme and get Jets running game going. Lmao Good luck with that one.

Another true Callahan story. When he was at Illinois St(i Believe) . The dope was caught trying to steal the opposing team playbook. (was suspended two weeks)

And he's not being watched carefully after all of that?

All I see is a guy who as long as he's not given a big role on a coaching staff, he's flourishes.

O-line coach, and run-play designer... small roles.

That's what's great about you guys. If the Raiders talk about hiring someone as a consultant you've got him running the team. And Raider fans are supposed to be conspiracy theorists!

It's a suggestion made and basically refuted in the original article if you read past the part that Sundayjack gleefully highlighted. And as you said, it's a suggestion.

I would say Paul Hackett will singlehandedly ruin your offense....but first you need an offense to ruin....so the point is moot.

Unless, by development, you mean that Paul Hackett is going to help Jamarcus with bigger boobs, I suspect disappointment looms.

    Heh. . . Hackett. . . Russell. . . bigger boobs. . . how fitting.

Gannon might just credit Hackett for helping his career, but he did nothing under Hackett. Actually lost his starting job to Steve Bono and then Elvis Grbac. I'll say that again - STEVE BONO and ELVIS GRBAC. Then, suddenly, he switched teams and played under Gruden/Callahan and had an MVP year. Funny, that. He. Got. Better. When. He. Left. Hackett. So very strange.

All of Kansas City danced in the streets when Hackett went away. USC would have given him the fahking Trojan horse to ride out of town. I'd have donated my car to drive him away from the Meadowlands if that's what it took. NO team came running for the guy, but John Gruden gave him a mercy hire. Alas, now Jamarcus Russell wants big tits.

Terribly dumb. Good choice the old man made dealing Gruden away and keeping the idiot who screwed that up. This is a mitigating argument how?

Okay, that's one Raider fan (albeit the most famous Raider fan in these parts!). You guys swarmed when the Raiders signed Jeff George as camp fodder in '06, made it seem like they viewed him as some kind of savior. A false report about JaMarcus being 300 pounds that has been refuted by many news outlets is still the gold standard around here, see Sundayjack's comments above. Hackett hasn't been hired as anything yet and people are posting as if Al gave him the keys to the castle.

Hey it's all good, this is a Jet board, I get it. But it's still amusing.

The one thing I can give you a nod for is knowing that Callahan is here to help and not to take over. Thank You for knowing that much.

Gannon's last year in KC he had a 80.1 rating compared to 53.1 for Grbac. The season before that he went 7-1 down the stretch in a 13-3 season before Marty made the dumb decision to start Grbac in the playoffs.

Gannon only had one season with a rating over 80 before joining the Chiefs, then he had ratings of 92, 79, and 80 before the Raiders signed him. It certainly appears that he's not just being charitable when he praises Hackett for his development.

If he did lose his starting job to Grbac and Bono it's not a reflection on Hackett. It's one of the dumbest decisions Marty ever made. It still makes me smile.

I think Callahan is a good hire. You're investing a lot in your O line and you damn well better run the ball better than last year. He should help. Just keep him away from the head coaching seat!

But no, I don't start threads when the Jets sign guys like Wadsworth, or Ahmad Carroll. Let the Raiders sign camp fodder or consider hiring a consultant and it's a big party around here!
