History for New England fans started in 2001

When the Celtics were a dynasty the only pro football fans in New England were Giants fans.

Hating the Yankees is a New England tradition. Those chants will never go away.

As far as annoying, obnoxious, and uninformed...Boston fans are no more or less so than any other fans.

  5. So, chanting that a team sucks at say a funeral, a memorial, or formal event, at even after the most tragic of times..is something that every fanbase is capable of?

I gotta tell ya...if a major act of terrorism took place in quincy market, and public figures were making tributes to the victims..I'd have enough respect not to start some childish, jealous sports chant about the sox or pats. And I dont know any Ny fan or ANY other city fan that would.

    But boston fans did.

Sounds a lot more like envy if you ask me. Typical of obsessions.

I never heard of such a thing, and, frankly, I'd probably have to be there myself to believe it. That would be disgraceful.

Why would the Red Sox envy the Yankees right now? That makes no sense at all.
Do the Bears and Packers fans envy each other? No. They traditionally hate each other. Current success has nothing to do with it.

History for New England fans started in 2001 apparently.

    Huh?

  8. I can attest that several "yankees suck" cheers were heard all over RI after 9/11.

Additionally the popular metal band Hatebreed at a concert in worcester, was dedicating a song to the victims of 9/11...the people at the concert started, you guessed it..the yankees suck cheer. Singer Jamie Jasta apparently cut the set list short and left the area as quickly as he could.

    I' m not a New York fan.

And yes, I've heard of the Celtics considering I've been a die-hard Laker fan(even more so than the Phins) for all of my life. The funny part is that I've lived in the Boston area since the late 80s and all throughout the 90s when both teams were struggling. And guess what? All of the Cs fans somehow dissapeared and everyone became Spurs fans. Sort of how around these parts in the 80s and 90s you couldn't find a Pats fan if you tried--you were all cheering for the Boys or the 49ers.

You could go to a Celtic game for 20 bucks and be sitting at frontcourt seats by halftime. Seats that in LA or NY will cost you 1k at least. I'm sure you're all Cs fans now though, granted that your team salvaged it's future for a 3year window opportunity. I just can't wait for the media over hyped Celtics to get dominated by a West team 4-0 so you all can revert to your "second-favorite" teams :rofl2:

    Fuck Boston!

That being the case, I guess every fanbase has a portion of morons which one can be ashamed to be associated with, and asses like that should get beaten down and have Old Glory planted in their assholes as they lay facedown in the mud.

    Flat out wrong.

According to you, the Pats had no fans during the Drew Bledsoe, Bill Parcells era? What were you smoking at that time?

Pre-Parcells, there were very few Pats fans, I agree. But once they changed uniforms, they've been huge....long before 2001.

That's true in comparison to your dark ages, yes. But not even close to today. But hey all the Dallas and San Fran fans must have just moved out of the area huh?

No, just the San Fran fans...there seems to be a whole new influx of fresh Dallas fans lately.

That doesn't really help your argument though... Not many fans until they started winning? There's a nice loyal fanbase for ya....

  15. Before 95 there were very few Pats fans. Most of New England was split between the Giants, Jets, Niners and Cowboys. From 95 till about 01, there were def. MORE Pats fans..but i wouldnt say they outweighed Giants/Jet fans in their local market. That was until they started winning super bowls.

No reason to root for a team that sucks for 30 years....especially when the local games get blacked out because the stadium doesn't sell out. The ownership previous to Kraft was a joke, they completely sucked.

BUt, as soon as they signed Tuna, they instantly sold out every game and got huge ratings...people just felt that the team was FINALLY doing something right, and hopped on board overnight...even though they lost a lot of games that year

For good or ill, that's the way it was.

I think we may make the game more respectable now, but I still think we will lose.

If Belichick really wants to screw the Jets franchise, the Patriots will lose to them in Foxboro. Nothing could be worse for the Jets right now than false hope.

It's called being a fan. Have the Jets not sucked for 30 (more like 40) years??!! Most of us 30-40 something Jet fans have suffered endlessly.

I think that Belichick will go out of his way to embarrass the Jets but not necessarily destroy them. Imagine if he starts his entire 2nd string Offense and Defense and they still beat us (which they probably would!!).
