It's a first round pick if they make the playoffs this year and a 2nd and 3rd if they don't. I was thinking 2 3rds. This is even better.

They will lose their 1st round pick, we all know they will make the playoffs. It doesn't get any better. I thought they would just take a way some gay conditional 3rd or 4th round pick or something like that. They have 2 1st round picks i believe, so this helps us a lot.

    Pats Slapped With Max
The NFL made sure Bill Belichick and the Patriots paid a steep price for their videotaping exploits. Belichick was fined $500,000 and the team must pay $250,000 for violating league policy. Additionally, New England will forfeit its 2008 first-round pick if the team makes the playoffs or its 2008 second-and third-round picks if they don't make the playoffs.

    I can see it now.

Kraft just reached down took a cleanex, cleaned the lipstick off his tool, then handed it to Goodell, and said...clean that stuff of your chin....

1st vs 2nd + 3rd is basically the same thing. They are pretty good at drafting players so losing a 1st round pick or a 2nd and 3rd will hurt them a lot. I'm happy. :)

It would get better if Bellishit was suspended as he should have been.

Without a salary cap sanction to keep them from spending the $$$$ on other players, it's less bothersome than a hemerrhoid.

They should have suspended Belichick for at least one game also. That is the only way to really drive the point home.

This is a slap on the wrist. BB should have been suspended for 4 games.

It will be interesting to see how good they are the rest of the season.

And be thankful that the team isn't concerned with this in the slightest. They're keeping it professional by preparing for the Chargers.

Come on, 1st round picks are worth a lot in the NFL. You can easily get an All Pro player for a 1st rounder. Sure, they could still pick up free agents but so can everyone else. They wasted a lot of money on Thomas, Welker, Moss and company last season, i don't think they will be able to sign even more big name free agents next year. They will have to re-sign Samuel as well.

I think the draft pick/or picks is be the bigger deterant. I think suspension is embarasing, but nowadays coaches have very capible coaching staff ready and willing to step in and execute a head coaches game strat with relative ease. A forfit of a high draft pick/or multiple picks affects the franchize as a whole for years.

If its a choice between suspension or picks, I would much rather the punishment for cheating be picks.
