Some of you guys are pretty sensitive. What were Rex's own words last year? Something like, "I lost the pulse of this team?"

It happened to an extent with Belichick in 2009. Adalius Thomas and a handful of other players (Shawn Springs was one) had sort of had a mini-rebellion. Next year, they were all gone.

The Jets identified players as having shitty attitudes and kept them on the team anyway (I would have personally traded Santonio Holmes for a seventh-round pick, or just cut him if it came down to it). What you guys don't ever acknowledge is that the Jets have opened themselves up for this kind of thing.

It's like a bizzaro Red Sox / Yankees thing, pre-2004. When Boston fans would cry about how the Yankees got special treatment and whatnot, it used to make me sick. Sports are a bottom-line business. Win and you get away with more than you would if you don't win.

Your right but remember, Shawn springs and Thomas we're on one year contracts. I love how you Pats fans have the answer for all the Jets problems. While I agree that Holmes is a lockeroom liability, he is our most skilled offensive player, who BTW has a contract that the ultimately woul prevent the Jets from trading him. So, it's a tad more complex then you think.

While I agree with your overall point, neither Thomas nor Springs were on one-year contracts, both we're released and left dead money on the cap.

I didn't mean to project some notion that I, personally, have answers for Tannenbaum. I simply pointed out the difference, and how operating the way they do, the Jets almost invite criticism. Not saying one is even better than the other. But do you think if Holmes pulled that shit in NE that he'd still be a Patriot? Contract or not? Dead money sucks for any team, but sometimes it's still worth cutting a guy lose if it's going to have a positive impact on your team culture.

I think you're right that Holmes is their most skilled offensive player. It's also a problem, because though he is a clutch player, he's really a #2 receiver.

The Jets need Hill to be a real contributor quickly becasue Holmes can't shake the D alone. He needs someone on the other side that scares the other team.

Cutting Holmes would have been utterly stupid. He's got chemistry with Sanchez and makes amazing catches. Sanchez has had to deal with a revolving door of WRs since he got here. Let's at least keep one, especially one that has made plenty of game winning catches for us, including that incredible catch against the Pats in the playoff game. Yeah you'd love for us to cut / trade him. Having an argument in the huddle during one game is hardly cause for a alarm. Obviously he cares about winning and was upset with Schotty, who was truly to blame for losing the pulse of the offense. Rex was covering for him.

Do you think that if Gronk made a stink last year, he'd be cut / traded? I highly doubt it.

So let me understand this.....brawls breaking out all over Pats TC & one fight in Jets Camp makes national news?! #GotIt

Obviously woody will be biased, but I believe he was a Patriots too for a couple years?

Ah well tweet at Woody and see if he gives you a response. He perceives a difference but like I said he is probably biased

Apples and oranges. Gronkowski had arguably the best season ever for a TE in 2011 and scored more TDs than Holmes has in two season in NY. Holmes' production, on the other hand, could be replaced very easily with guys who are not disruptive.

Obviously you're a Holmes fan who is willing to give him a lot more slack than I would be. That's fine, I didn't expect a lot of agreement on this. And as a Patriots fan, you're wrong in saying I would love for the Jets to cut or trade him. He's not a game-changer. He's a middle-of-the-pack receiver.

By all accounts, internally and otherwise, Holmes was a huge part of the problem last year. Cutting him or trading him would have sent a message and Rex would have instantly had his locker room back.

I guess we'll see what happens if the Jets start slow. Could be fine, who knows? Or all hell could break loose.

LOL, he was... they drafted him.

But CJ is right, and Woody is not. The Pats brawls on Friday made almost every major news outlet. ESPN, NFL.com, etc-etc.

I don't tweet, so I can't call him on it.

Doesn't seem like they are treated quite the same. I mean maybe I'm wrong or just biased but it seems like it was brushed off when the Pats did it but it's the beginning of the end of the Jets.

Of note: Since his retirement, Woody has been very anti-Jets. In this case, that means his tweet holds water, given no expected pro-Jets bias

Reading the articles that are coming out today about the Jets' fights, yes... I think there's something valid to that. Mike Lupica is a vomitous mass of a human being, but for some reason he's still a noted journalist.

This is the culture Rex created, it can be frustrating at times but the media is ready to pounce at any moment. You can't have this atmosphere and not make the playoffs.

    ^^^ this.

It might not be fair, while both the Patriots and Jets received national media attention the common theme was that "Belichick will send his message and all will be fine" and that "Rex has lost it, Jets have no discipline", but this is what Rex has created.

Fair or not, he wanted the attention, now he's getting it. The fans have to accept it and deal with it, NE does everything in their power to stay out of the spotlight so the stories blow over much quicker and never appear as big, New York does the opposite most of the time, so when anything negative happens the media will do everything possible to get information out of the players and coaches who are actually permitted to talk to the media.

NE doesn't even allow tweeting by the media in their stadium, James Walker on ESPN stated he had to wait to leave before he was allowed to post his practice reviews a few weeks back.

Let's not forget we tried this approach. It worked w/ Bill Parcells, it didn't w/ Al groh and Eric Mangini.
