Deflated balls are much easier to catch. I have doubts to this since it comes from a Colts beat reporter.
I have even more doubts since it makes no sense. The refs get 24 balls plus the kicking balls two hours before kickoff and keep them until they hand them to the ball attendants at game time. In that time they are weighed and tested, and the home team must also provide a pump. So the question is... how did they deflate the ball since it is either with the ref or the ball attendant, and on top of that, why didn't the ref simply remove the ball that was under-inflated and either have any he doubted, re-inflated, or get a ball from the visitors which is what they do if rain/snow makes all of the original balls unplayable.
The Pats are so much better than the Colts, I can't believe they'd be stupid enough to do this. It was hardly a match up where a small incremental gain would have made the difference.
Agreed - probably the only thing deflated was the Colts' ego. Super Bowl XLIX: hope they both lose (NE more so), that Lenny Kravitz' mic goes dead, and Katy Perry's getup suffers a major tit-spillage malfunction.
D'Qwell Jackson claimed the ball he intercepted felt underinflated and waited until after losing by 38 points to notify the Colts' equipment manager. If anything comes of this I'll be shocked. A deflated ball is not worth 38 points, sorry Colts.
According to today's Boston Globe it was reported by the Colts equipment guys immediately and the league was on notice by halftime.
Why do Patriots fans feel the need to state the obvious fact that a deflated ball isn't worth 38 points? Is there some level of cheating that is acceptable in your minds? Maybe 7 or 14 points from cheating would be OK since they won by 38? As long as less than half the margin of victory was cheated points, we're good? I highly doubt anyone has evidence the Pats deflated balls but if they do the punishment should be immediate and severe.

Why bother coming on our board and defending your team again. Belichick is going to cheat anyways. He spends the off season studying the rule book and trying to figure ways around it. Advantage Patriots. Your fans would even defend giving a contract extension to Aaron Hernandez despite all of the red flags.

It was an easy solve. Ineligible receivers lined up outside of the tackle box should have to raise their hand to signal to the defense that they are ineligible. It leaves in the "off balance" advantage while taking out the bullshit "wait, who's eligible again?" crap. The defense is entitled to being sure of who they have to cover.
