well, it'll be nice if he can crack the gameday roster just to see how far Rex has coached him up already...
I don't get the move at all... I think Gilbert is a good prospect, and would love him to flourish in our system, but we need DB's, particularly safeties. We have what 2 active safties on the roster, one of which was signed last week off the street, and then we have Lowery in reserve...
Safety is a recent concern. We've needed strong DL depth for over a season now. Who else could we have signed and placed on the active roster on a Wednesday night before a Sunday game?
Diggs is practicing today so hopefully he'll play too. It's tough at this point in the year, losing both Leonhard and Smith is just bad luck.
I expected him to have signed with the Steelers by the time I woke up this morning. I'm sure it will happen by Friday afternoon, the latest.
These guys who are cut/resigned /cut have my full sympathy. Wonder if Gilbert was sent away to fatten up a bit as I da bears made him lose a lot of weight to become a 4-3 player
Update: As Jenny Vrentas of the Star Ledger points out, Rex Ryan said Gilbert was elevated to the active roster because another team wanted to sign him off the Jets practice squad. However, the Jets did not want to lose him.
I think you were right earlier too, Pryce is likely out for Sunday so some more line depth couldn't hurt anyway.
well...our strength and conditioning coach has been suspended. No more strength and/or conditioning. Helloooooo injuries.
Yeah- "nyjets New York Jets #EA DL Trevor Pryce did not practice with a hip injury. The Jets are unsure if he'll be able to suit up on Sunday." A few of the beat writers said he's likely out, but it's not a definite yet.
So with Pryce being ruled out there's a good chance we'll be seeing Gilbert Sunday. Hopefully he can make an impact.
Jet fans might see some surprises, McKnight and Gilbert getting some action. Some great players only got their break due to injury, so who knows.
We shouldn't expect them to play great though. I'm just hoping to see them make a positive impact at this point.
Yeah, I'm not saying Gilbert will be leaving with 20 tackles and a TD, just anything positive from our young guys would be nice.
