Thats the biggest contradiction i've ever read... if the signals were gonna change then why record them in the first place?
Not necessarily. If, before a game starts, you can tune in to the common frequency a team is using to communicate within, you can set up shop anywhere in the Meadowlands. You could be in a van in the parking lot, for example, listening to a conversation between Mangini and his OC or Mangini and Westhoff up in the booth. Now you simply get on your Patriots frequency and tell Belichick what you just heard.
@chris66: Say we suck all you want but tell me how every single f'in blitz was picked up, please explain that to all of us. This goes back to last years playoffs too. Have you ever seen a game where every single time a team blitzed it was picked up -- I know I sound silly here but I do not remember one blitz that came close to sacking Brady, not one.
Hey, I take second place to nobody as a jet fan, but there is no way the tape played any significant role in the game. We got our asses kicked, pure and simple. depending on which report you believe, the tape was confiscated sometime before the second half started. How could it have helped? Moreover, if it is true that mangini knew about this stuff, don't you think he somehow would have found a way to negate it? lets face up to the fact we got beat by a much better team. perhaps the score would have been closer without the runback, perhaps not. It doesn't take away from our terrible O-line play.
I think the technology exists to more than conquer the potential vulnerabilty. Just have the signal automatically switch to a different random frequency everytime somebody in charge pushes a control button. Obviously, you would not want to change signals during communication due to lag and synch issues. Also maybe some coding device could be used to garble reception to outside intervention. Maybe Chad and our coaches should learn how to communicate in Al Qeida tongue.
what about the radio tapping?....i think this is WAY BIGGER than stealing signals...and this is something that other teams came out and said also.....If this is true...i think its bigger than the roid problem in baseball....IMO
I agree. We got beat fair and square. They would have beaten us regardless. It still doesn't make what they did right, however. The big questions have yet to be answered: 1) How long has this been going on? 2) Did it ever affect the outcomes of any games? 3) Was surveillance used in any of the Superbowls? Kraft and Belichick have some serious 'splainin' to do.
Supposedly, this is the first time they caught the Pats doing it, red-handed if you will. I think most fans agree that the outcome would have been the same, with the score a tad closer. But the point is the Pats broke NFL rules and in our case affected the game, we keep going back to the same point, how were they able to perfectly block every blitz? No team is that good. I am just glad the darlings of the NFL have been exposed and other teams are coming forward.
Cheating with the talent NE has is just plain foolishness and disrespectful, however, NE does have a great O-Line regardless.
The guy with the camera was remove early in the first quarter, and the tape was confiscated. Don't think he had any influence over the outcome of this game.
Very interesting suggestion, then the LB would get like a blue dot on the back of their helmet signifying such.
You, and the rest of us have no idea what truly transpired. Dude could have had a radio set, a live feed, etc sending/relaying the calls to the OC, QB, BB, etc. We just have no idea how bad this was, we have already said the outcome would have been the same. Fact of the matter is the Pats cheated, and the NFL said so. Hopefully the NFL gets to the bottom and this and the Pats get what's coming to them. This goes beyond the Jets-Pats game, it challenges the integrity of the game like that NBA betting shit with the ref. All NFL teams were warned not to do this sort of thing and the Pats did it anyway, apparently for a while.
