Correct! Parcells isn't going anywhere. He has the job of King here in Miami. He loves the city. He has all the people he wanted to bring in (Sparano, Ireland, Henning, Pasqualoni, Cowboy players, etc.). His wife wants him to stay. As long as Ross isn't a Jerry Jones/Al Davis type owner, Parcells is going nowhere.
I realise you may have forgotten what the playoffs feel like, but I can assure you that one and done feels just as bad, if not worse, than what we're experiencing right now.
I think anyone who says he knows what Parcells will do is kidding himself. At a minimum, the opt-out clause, if it's being described accurately, enables Parcells to negotiate a hefty payday for himself (either from the Phins or someone else) and there's nothing in his background or history to make you think he won't take full advantage. If he leaves I'll be pretty sad, but hopefully Sparano and Ireland really are a solid foundation for the Phins. Of course Mangini looked like a solid foundation for the Jets after 2006... Ross is supposed to be a smart guy, and I'm sure he looked at Parcells' contract very carefully before he bought the team.
Ok, we get it, the Dolphins had an amazing season. Go take your amazing season and post it somewhere that people care about such things. Maybe Parcells does leave, the Dolphins better hope he doesn't come to the Jets because I am quite sure with the talent here right now would easily crush your amazing Dolphins. Yeah keep running all the gimmicks plays to compensate for talent. Whatever, enjoy your brief moment in the sun...
"Why would anyone want to go back to Parcells?" These are the Jets - they prefer recycled products to original products. In the end, the results are always the same: awful seasons.
I can guarantee Ross and Wayne discussed the issue before hand with Parcells. Like I said, Parcells has the job of a King in Miami. And money is no problem to Ross. I'm pretty sure he will offer a raise if need be. As long as Ross isn't a Jerry Jones, Parcells will stay.
11-5 will be a memory if you lose in the playoffs. A happy memory, but a memory. Particularly if there is Someone To Blame for the loss.
Were you around those years? Belichick had a clause in his contract that he was elevated to HC. Parcells never gave him indications he was going to step down and BB was talking w/ NE where he agreed to coach them. Parcells steps down, BB is elevated and BB felt like Parcells was screwing him PLUS he didn't want BP over his shoulder and he walked out on us. The transition should have been smooth but BP messed it up and we ended up w/ a wasted 2000 w/ Groh as HC although at least groh did a good job w/ the draft unlike the previous 3 years. When did Parcells re-marry?
