I love the type of personality that Rex Ryan brings to the locker room, media and football field. He's tough as nails and he coaches the same way. Rex said last year, that he's not here to kiss BB and his SB rings, and guess what? Rex Ryan and the Jets are 2-2 against BB and the Patriots since then. Rex is the best thing thats happened to this franchise since Bill Parcells back in 1997. The Jets have made the playoffs back to back during Ryan's first two years with the Jets. He's done it with a young QB in Sanchez, who's only been in the league for two years, which makes our record of 22-13 (including the playoffs) that much more impressive. Rex is a winner. Players actually love playing for this man. Just ask two future hall of famers in L.T and Jason Taylor. Then go ask players such as Bart Scott & Jim Leonhard who both followed Rex to the Jets from Baltimore. He's also respected around the league, just go ask Ray Lewis and Ed Reed about their former DC. He's a players coach; talent will follow Rex.
i love the way he's tough on rookies and makes them earn their way onto the field. wilson, mcknight, decaucus (sp). i think the terminator is the only rookie who saw time on the field, and even then he's clearly playing behind richards. even greene last year bearly saw the field until the playoffs.
I think he understands it's extremely for a rookie to come in this league and contribute straight away... it's a good thing we can afford to have them wait for their turn to be on the field...
I rather have him as our head coach... The useless media just loves attacking people that are different.
Sorry. Couldn't resist the straight line... Yah. My team had to go with rookies at tight end and all over the defensive backfield. Unless you have really good coaching and are really good with your draft picks, this would be a disaster. Good thing the Jets could afford to play without your rookies.
Rookies This isn't actually very fair. Normally, the Patriots wouldn't depend on rookies, either. 2009, however, was by Patriots standards an epic fail. Everyone knew the Patriots defense was too old and too slow. On the offensive side, there were also only two star receivers that were reliably catching the ball, Randy Moss and Wes Welker. Normally, Brady's favorite receiver is the open guy, but in 2009 he relied heavily on two guys. These guys were so beat up late in the season that the offense wasn't working well. I for one thought that playing all the rookies was an act of desperation. It worked, though. By late season, the defensive rookies had their act pretty well together. Meanwhile, the two tight end sets were giving opposition teams headaches. With the same personnel packages, you could either keep both big guys in to run block, or send them out as wide receivers in a spread. Either way, the opposition had match up problems. There aren't a lot of defenders that can handle those guys in both run and pass situations. Anyway, after the Patriots loss to the Browns, Belichick told the rookies they weren't rookies anymore. They'd been with the team long enough. They were expected to do their jobs. Not every team would or could do that.
 He starts his 2nd post with"This isn't actually very fair" He completely negates the previous post but forgets that he wrote it himself...
The only people complaining about Rex's pressers are the ESPN crowd. ESPN is always trying to create an artificial controvery in order to hype the games.
Saw this post and had to register. I'm from Indy, going to the game today, pulling for the Colts. But Rex? Rex as Jets HC is the best thing to happen to the NFL in a long, long time. I want the Jets to succeed, except today, because I want Rex to be in New York forever. Last season I didn't know what to make of him; I kind of wondered if he was a significantly larger Jerry Glanville. But Hard Knocks changed my mind -- this is the kind of coach I'd want to play for. This is the kind of coach I'd want to root for. Belichick? Caldwell? Kubiak? Turner? Come on, a trip to the DMV is more exciting than those guys. Isn't football supposed to be fun?? Don't ever go away, Rex, you make the game fun. In the era of Roger Goodell, that's wonderful.
