I pretty much agree with this order. For some reason, I can't see the Steelers competing. Pats have their number.
I think it will be more like three road teams advance...and the fucking Eagles! Couldn't agree more. Perfect that approach this week because if we win, it's going to be even more important next week. Keeping Manning off the field is paramount.
I know some people don't value playoff berths- the people who are only focused on their team winning a championship and can't enjoy Jets football without one. I get that. But the way I look at it, I'm guaranteed 16 days of Jets football a year. 16 out of 365. Whenever I'm gifted a 17th day, it's just awesome. Fucking awesome. This is only the fifth time in Jets history we fans have been given an extra day of football two years in a row. I'm grateful for that. ...pretty off topic, but I just fucking love seeing the New York Jets in the playoffs. Indianapolis delenda est.
Rex is 22-13 in two seasons. It's going to be extremely tough to beat peyton, then brady then big ben on the road. Three potential hall of famers on the road would be insane. I think they can beat Pitt and Indy but right now the Pats offense is built to beat our defense.
The Pats' offense is built to beat everybody's defense. They're the best team in the league. You can't get to the Super Bowl without beating the best squads.
Would be crazy if we beat Manning, Brady, Roethlisberger, then Brees At least one of those four have been in the Superbowl the past 7 years...and they won it 6/7
It would be called the SB the Jets weren't supposed to win. I'd would love it being called that. Because it means the young 2nd year QB/HC kicked the ass of the elite and put themselves in the same conversation for one year.
Oh I agree that the offense is built to beat everyone but I have a feeling they had the Jets defense in mind when they starting changing the offense. The Pats can be beat but the only teams I feel that can beat them are the teams with big time established QB's. Manning, Brees, Rodgers, maybe Ryan, Vick and big ben. Their defense basically allows you to move the ball up and down the field and give you field goals. When they get up 21 points the other team presses and it plays right into the Pats defense. You've gotta pound the ball and have 10 play drives over and over. If you don't do that it will be 21-3 and then the game is over.
The Packers did it the right way. You run the ball and keep Brady the fuck off the field for as long as possible. Stop him on 3rd down to get the ball back and next thing you know you just won by 6 points. If Rodgers was in that game instead of Flynn, the Packers would have won. People are going to use that film to beat Brady in the playoffs. I don't think the Pats are immortal because of how young that defense is. What equalizes the young defense is that they're playing at home for all of January.
Be patient with the run, but I really wouldn't have a problem with throwing a little bit early to get Sanchez in a rhythm. Indy will be geared up to stop the run, and the key is to get ahead of the Colts. After that slow it down a little bit, and hopefully we will have opened up the run a little bit. The Colts' defense isn't that good. Not just against the run, but against the pass, too. Holmes and Edwards will need to make some plays for us. We can't just pound the ball every down and expect to win. We will need to put up some points. I want Greene to get the ball a lot, but we can't play like we did last year. We're a different team.
Right, they are beatable, but you can't the turn the ball over or give them good field position. You can't have holding penalties that ruin a drive. You can't let Gronkowski beat you. He has become their only really threat down the field. You need to hit him at the LOS every single play. And then on offense you just need to play smart football. The Pats are in a 2 deep zone almost every play. They are begging you to complete short passes. When you try and throw the ball down the field against them you get in trouble.
We have really struggled to run the ball on the Colts. Our blocking schemes and the speed of their defense was ugly in the playoffs last year. I would use the pass to setup the run. Try to keep those linebackers back in thinking for a second longer. It's not that the Colts defense is good, but when they attack the LOS the Jets get outnumbered quickly. The Colts and Bears defense are pretty similar. As long as Sanchez has good protection he should be find plenty of holes in their zone.
I don't know about you guys, but I felt fucking great this morning when I woke up. I told this hangover to go fuck itself. A win like the one last night can set our franchise up for long term success. Our team is moving on. Our team is alive for at least one more fucking week. As much as I wanted our team to beat Peyton Manning and the Colts, our next opponent is who we were destined to play. The New Patriots are our biggest rivals. They won the division, but next weekend, we can take the whole conference away from them. We can take this week-by-week. Congrats Jets' Nation.
I too told this hangover to fuck itself. That was awesome. Actually ended up meeting a couple of guys from this board in the bar that I was in when I bought them shots because they were in Jets jerseys. Great win. Awesome to see them running the ball. I have to admit, I was waiting for Schotty to get cute, but he didn't. And the option plays worked well. I'd feel better about next week if we got more pressure on Manning, but the fact that we are running the ball so well is awesome. We're going to give the Pats a good run for their money. That last game was an aberration. We missed a field goal, have a really short punt, a long PI call and it was over. Not this time.
Awesome post and feel the exact same way, the euphoria, the confidence, the feeling of destiny! It really is a good fucking feeling! And I honestly believe if we beat the Pats, there wont be a fucking team that can stop us!
I feel the same way. The winner of the Super Bowl is either going to be the Patriots or the team that sends them home. If we beat the Pats, we're taking it all.
