Right - DRC was 28. Holy shit. He ain't no spring chicken - he's good for 2 years TOPS. [And Jets were supposed to chase THIS man? What the FUCK?]
Don't be surprised when neither of the first two selections in the Draft are CBs. The paradigm shift is coming, boys.
DRC is overrated, underachieving, immature and isn't committed to being a standout professional football player. Great athlete that doesn't work to reach his potential. Glad Idzik didn't overpay for a mediocre player.
I think the Giants were interested in signing DRC out from underneath the Jets, because if you look at it on its face, the %yr signing for what they paid doesn't make sense
All the reports of Rex being upset about the non-signings are fueled by anonymous quotes. Just say he is. Then he better get over it and coach what he has. Some people on this board say he is a top coach. If that's true he ought to be able to win with the players they have. Coaches adjust to their personnel. Because of injuries and free agency all NFL coaches have to be flexible. If he can't learn then he doesn't belong as a head coach.
I have been wondering about Antonio Cromartie current health situation. Could it be that his physical in Arizona was marginal or dissatisfactory? Does the FO of the Jets concerned enough about his injury to skip him all together? Something is not right here....
I'm not sure.. I think guys like him are gonna get squeezed to sign for vet mimums like the jets did with pace last year. In today's nfl other than qb 30 is like the drop dead age. Little or no interest in older players.
I feel the same way. I feel like he would have been signed to somebody already if his hip was healed properly, even if it was a cheap or short term deal. If that's not the case we need to sign him to some kind of deal immediately, our current CB situation is dire in my eyes.
Not to mention, who our are safeties? Antonio Allen, ok, but who else? That is going to be a meek secondary!
This is what happens when you replace one glorified cap manager (Tannenbaum) with another (Idzik). I love what Idzik did last year in FA with no cap space to work with. But the past week has been a joke. He's made one good move -- re-signing Cumber. You can only add so many players through the draft in a given year. At least sign some hold-the-fort guys if you don't want to overpay for guys you don't believe in. Unless his strategy is to go 1-15 next year and lock up the #1 overall pick in 2015, Idzik's passiviy / nonchalance is stupefying.
You can coach up bad players but you can't win with them. I don't care how good a coach you are. It takes talent to win. I agree that Idzik should not be undermined by Rex. He needs to be able to execute his "plan," whatever that is, without being answerable to the HC. But to expect or demand Rex field a competitive defense with scrubs is naive. Rex is a good defensive coach. That is indisputable.
How do you guys feel about signing a one year stop gap such as Champ Bailey while also drafting a CB in round 2 or 3? He can groom our young CBs while also holding his own in a number 2 role. He's not chasing anyone down, but he can still play for a season while Milliner and a rookie learn the way.
Why wouldn't Rex be furious?he is a defensive coach and a lot of the things he does on defense are based on what or corners can do.How far fetched
Who honestly cares about a washed up football player "grooming" younger guys.We watched that movie with Ed Reed
