Complaining about ownership in hopes that they sell has to be the most futile, shortsighted thing a fan can do. It’s akin to someone wanting you to sell your house because they don’t like your landscaping. If someone came up to you and said that you would stick your middle finger right in their face and tell them to fuck themselves with a rusty chainsaw.

 

How about complaining about ownership with no expectations that they sell?

 

Still futile, not short sighted?

 

In truth, not shortsighted...if they would sell (they won't), there's the possibility that the new ownership would either know how to build a winning franchise, or at least know who to hire to do it. Of course, none of that is guaranteed, and the new ownership could be worse - though that's tough to imagine.

So, based on your point, our best hope is they hire a PFO (Pres. of Football Ops) to run things. The good thing is they could do that right now if there was someone available.

 

So you're suggesting a fan-wide boycott where everyone stops going to games, returns their tickets, defaults on PSLs, stops buying Jets paraphernalia, stops watching games on TV, stops listening to radio etc. won't force him to sell?

Well, it worked with the Wilpons and the Mets, why not the Jets.

And I'm guessing if they DID decide to sell--which they won't--hopefully they'd sell it to someone like a Prokhorov so he can deliver us all those championships like he's brought to the Nets.

Or maybe Dolan! He'd be a GREAT owner.

Or maybe Jeter--they love him down in Florida.

The next owners, believe it or not, could be WORSE.

But he's never selling, but sure, let's fantasize some more about it.

 

And that would be an improvement.

 

I pointed out that in my previous post. But, you can't be sure the new ownership COULD be better.

Again, I'm not holding my breath for new ownership, just for a change in approach.

 

Something's gotta change.

Agree 100%. But will the Johnsons do that, or keep showing "patience"? If the latter, than I will continue to hope - as futile as it may be - that new ownership buys the team.

 

I would be very surprised to see the Johnsons making any moves at this stage. The way this team has played , it would take more than just firing the head coach to see any improvement. Besides, I haven't heard any one player complain about Bowles's in any form or function to make a case that he has lost the players.

What we know is that the offense and defense has played like dog poop, the last 3 games have shown a regression, and the players are saying very stupid things. That's all on the coach and his staff. If the owner fires Bowles, who will they promote?

 

The team obviously still has a ways to go. Ideally the Jets can get a top 3 pick and slowly gain chemistry over the course of 2018, but I can see a late season surge when the offense develops better chemistry.

To be fair, the schedule was very harsh for a rookie QB, nobody should have expected Sam to light it up against good NFL defenses, let alone the #1 ranked D in the league. I also think Herndon will become a go to guy in year 2. This year is not about winning, it's about development. Next year the Jets add the weapons with year of valuable experience under Sam's belt.

Interim replacement: Fans may want Bowles fired, but who can you replace him with in-season? Months of preparation go in to an NFL season, so the only true option would be to promote from within, and if the Jets look to do that, the clear choice would be wide receivers coach Karl Dorrell.

Dorrell has five years of head coaching experience at the collegiate level at UCLA where he went 35-27 over five seasons. Dorrell is also from the offensive side of the ball and has experience as both a quarterbacks coach (Miami and Houston) as well as calling plays at the college level with Colorado, Washington and Vanderbilt, where he was the offensive coordinator before joining Todd Bowles’ staff several years ago.

that is what they should do... As for players not bad mouthing TB why would they when "it seems" no one holds them accountable for missed assignments, penalties, etc.
