two games and the hype is already out of control. the shameless behavior of the announcing crew last night is only the begining. i'm going to end up really despising this kid.
yeah me and my friends didnt like him at all coming out of USC. bias or not, we think the Pac 10 is an overrated conference since Palmer ressurected USC. also hes a ballroom dancing surfer boy GQ hollywood type. and no comparisons to Namath, cuz he proved himself. two games............two games........ ionno i hate hype machines and hes been a part of one forever. i'm a huge critic, but considering he got drafted into ARI hes surrounded by skill players just like USC. either way......back to the best point 3rdand15 had.....two games..........
i will be the first one to admit it... i was not high on leinart at all at the draft -especially at #4... at #9 or 10 - i could make a small case for it but i just couldn't see him being successsful in the meadowlands with the weather issues and envisioned him as another esiason - not with the bengals but with the jets. now that would have been ok for some people but comparing him to cutler - i would have definitely pulled the trigger on cutler in the area of 6-9 in the draft. oh well - leinart looks like he is progressing nicely and may turn into a pro bowl QB. as for cutler, i think he will be similar to a right handed version of steve young - a little less physical but shanahan got his moneys worth. the little i saw of clemens in the preseason i did NOT like - i think they envision the second coming of drew brees in him. we'll see. jil
The Jets would be lucky if Clemens turns into Drew Brees one day. At least passing on Cutler and Leinart wouldn't have been a complete waste of prime drafting position. Ken O'Brien anyone?
Ha! I also thought of bumping this thread when I saw his stats. To be fair, it's only one bad game and he may still become a great QB. But the fact remains, D'Brick may also become an outstanding left tackle. I am more happy with our #4 than ever before.
too funny GM, too funny... like that one ESPN commercial with the guy poolside giving his football insight, "Ricky Williams only has his mind on one thing and that's winning football games...who'd they pick, Roethel something, nice pick Cower..."
Haha, 'Meadowlands Winds'. Here's what some don't get here. Namath threw at Shea in a wind tunnel on horrid knees. I would have loved to see anyone do better. OK, I wouldn't have loved it, but you get me. I shrieked like hell when the Jets passed on Leinart. At number four, the New York Jets DON'T select...He looked like someone ran over his puppy. Holy Hell, I shrieked out loud. I was all set to stab myself in the face. Poised with a plastic fork for effect, honest to God. The Jets actually did something right in my life time. Or, I should say, they didn't do something horribly wrong. I was on the phone with abyzmul during the draft this year at the Holy Moment. "I'm helping my friend move. Hold on..." "OK..." "Here it is..." "HAH, WHEEEEEEE!"
Hahaha...this thread is so perfect for tonight. While I was strongly pulling for a Matt Leinart free fall after watching most of USC's games in LA during his career, I'll admit when I may have been misguided. My top pick at QB that year also came from the Pac 10...Clemens. Whoops!
It is funny how people wanted us to lose our last game so we could get reggie Bush then they wanted us to take leinart yet. Nobody is a sure thing, the draft is a crapshoot.
Scikotics had no problem with this bumped thread, though. Is this surprising? Not at all. Look who bumped it last week.
