The team was ready to play Sunday despite the penalties. That is the responsibility of the HC. Rex isn't a great HC yet but he's a good coach which is good enough as Rex continues to develop. I swear some of you are out of your mind to want this guy fired. If we wish this upon our HC we truly don't deserve jack shit
Did the HC throw the red flag incorrectly on the first challenge? probably, on the second challenge? questionable. Accusing him of loosing control of the game is laughable as it is accusing him for taking the yards instead of the down. What a joke. What a classic case of Rex haters trying to selectively trash his performance by nit picking a few things and totally loosing the big picture. The assessment of firing Rex is simply one of the worst, most counterproductive and unnecessary over reactions possible. Kudos for the offense 500 yards of play. Kudo for bringing in MM. Kudos for having the offense be unpredictable. Of course lets not give an ounce of credit for any of it to Rex. But if the O struggles, then is his fault because afterall he has overall responsibility, LOL. Fact is the game was won because the D held its ground in spectacular fashion, and that is all Rex. Truth be known, even with his many faults , he is one of the best coaches out there, with nothing but room to grow to be better. Lets move on to fixing the real issues with this team, ad stop the over reaction and the hate for a damned good coach n the making.
Agreed with the taking the penalty as well. If the Bills throw an incomplete pass on 3rd & 24, they're more likely to punt the ball than go for it on 4th down as well.

The only thing I was annoyed about with coaching was the challenges. The first one wasn't bad, but the second seemed like desperation. I know the recommendation comes from the people upstairs in the video booth so I can't really blame Rex for that, however. It's a shame we wasted that 2nd challenge, because we totally would have had a turnover on that other play that the refs blew. Other than that, I can't really think of anything else the coaches did wrong. "Worst coaching game ever" is your typical Jets fan over reaction to anything that ever happens. Rex was in the right to pull Wilson after last penalty (which was a flop on Johnson's part). Stevie was getting owned by Wilson most of the game up until that drive, so he started playing mind games with Wilson and ended up getting the better of him.
19 penalties (Oops, I mean 20).. C'mon now.. Not even during the height of the Kotite/Coslet years has a Jet team amassed that many penalties. Although the team was prepared to play, unless you also want to claim that the penalties were part of the plan too that has to be on the coaching. The team lost focus and Wilson lost control of his emotions and that damn near cost us the game. If a well disciplined team is a product of coaching, why isn't a undisciplined team a product of coaching too?
Aside from the penalties, the Jets executed plays time and time again. The team was definitely ready to play. They didn't come out flat and they sacked the QB 8 times! Execution on offense and defense. Rex will learn from this and get better. We've had games where we weren't penalitized once.
Rex has to learn from this or he'll be doing something else for a living. He's the HEADCOACH and the buck stops with him. Lets hope the team has got this out of its collective system and is ready to play with more control and poise. This team is on the verge of becoming good again but sometimes, its the little things that bite you in the ass.. Like 20 penalties..
20 penalties is so rare that it is ridiculous to claim it is anything but an anomaly and thus hardly anything to get excited about until it turns into a pattern.
JB, we can only hope we don't ever see anything like that again in our lifetime. It was starting to get painful to watch. Rex should get in their asses today and not let them celebrate for very long. They need a kick in the ass instead of a pat on the back. In no uncertain terms, Rex has to lay down the law regarding stupid penalties. It could have cost us the game yesterday. Discipline and Poise is as important as talent and scheme.
I agree, Rex needs to clean it up and move on. That doesn't mean he's a bad coach. Coaches shit the bed in various other ways. We've seen it in week 1 against the Bucs. Rex will address it today and we will get better. Sometimes winning ugly games like this do alot for a team. Better that we did it now and not later on.
Since the Jets have NEVER been in the top 5 or 10 team most penalized under Rex, chalk this up to stupid mistakes by the PLAYER. If Richardson jams his hand in the OL face, it's Rex's fault? If Vlad false starts, Rex again? When you start praising the days we have very little penalties, then I'll agree with griping over 20 flag headscratchers. And Rex won't "lay the law down". That is simply not his flare of teaching. Screaming at players is not his style and never will be.
There are ways of getting a point across without screaming and yelling. I would like to think that Rex is aware of the need to instill the poise and discipline that this team still requires to win consistently even under adversity. However Rex chooses to get this point across, he needs to do it and PDQ. Being a "Player's Coach" shouldn't mean the team has no poise under pressure and guys get to run amok. We've seen the meltdowns before and almost saw one yesterday on the field. We really don't need to see that again anytime soon.
Coaches Stop worrying about the coaches and enjoy this young club getting better. This challenge stuff is getting old. Would it be too much to ask that the officials get the call correct the first time.
I would imagine the booth guys are getting their asses chewed on too. I can only imagine how much better this team will get when they start drafting top tier offensive talent to go with a quickly developing dominant d.
it would have been 4th and 10. The QB picked up 4 yards on 3rd down. I would have done what Rex did. Move them back. It worked out OK.
I understand the D line penalties. we were getting on the QB all game; they were just amped up and roaring to go. to me it was youth being excited in the moment. that is correctable. the Wilson series of penalties were part bullshit, so I won't get too upset about them either. obviously the penalties were a problem in regards to the game itself and how it could have effected the outcome. I am just not going to be concerned about the concept of that many penalties and what it means for the entire season and Rex's overall ability to coach.
It was also pointed out on the radio that the Bills center was illegally moving his head presnap, and the refs were ignoring it. I'm sure that didn't help with some of the penalties on the DL.
